you cant yet , but when its official, the nexus one will get it first, and we would probably have to wait for HTC to sort out sense UI so the desire probably won't have it for some time after. we may be able to install a AOSP version of it, if you have a rooted device but it wont have any Sense UI on it, which some like inc me and some don't. guess we have to wait to find out.

You can't (not yet, and not in the near future). You'll have to wait (with all of us!) for a leaked (or whatever) ROM to pop-out.

I read somewhere that the Desire, Legend, Incredible etc are expected to get 2.2 by the second half of 2010 (nothin bout a specific month thou)

As HTC usually operates, it'll be expected 2nd half 2010, announced end of December 2010, postponed until April 2011, HTC will make excuses around May 2011, and actual release will occur between July and November 2011. Sit tight !! Edited May 21, 2010 by Sashimi

Haha yeah that p*ssed me off about the Hero which is why I got the Desire... hope they don't keep us hanging.

Paul already has a 2.2 up for nexus one right? I swear I read something of the sort on his twitter...

The only thing that'd prevent me from losing sense is the bloody Friendstream... lol

Having said that; I think 2.2 will be out a lot quicker for Desire than the 2.1 for the Hero...

I wish HTC would actually release some "with google" devices in europe. I don't care about sense at all, just want good hardware and fast updates. Sadly the Nexus One is around 250 euro's more then the desire in my country (because nexus is still import).

but isn'it possible to flash the Nexus One stock rom into the Desire, and then update to froyo like a normal N1-device?

you cant flash a stock nexus rom to the desire.

im pretty sure cyanogen will come very quickly with a froyo version and then will someone port it
