Guest Muskie Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 (Making this cause Paul told me to on twitter, lol) The A8183 reports as an A8181 after rooting to MCR r3. Due to Telstra using Device ID checks to restrict access to various Bigpond services, This locks us out of things like the telstra app store, the Mobile Foxtel app, and most importantly, The Telstra Mobile Data Usage checker. Could we please get a fix for this issue, Paul?
Guest Paul Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 You just need to re-push the stock build.prop. If someone has a stock device, could you 'adb pull /system/build.prop .' and attach it here? P

P Thanks to wuttlebrush, we have the file: http://build.biboop.com/a8183_build_prop.tar.bz2 Any chance of telling us how to toss it in, or if it needs editing, or whatever? Thanks, Paul.

Guest wuttlebush Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Hmm. I've pushed the build.prop to the phone via ADB whilst in recovery, and it's still showing as an A8181 Grepping the /system directory I've found A8181 references in a lot of the customize/*/*.xml files. May just be a matter of changing these to A8183. I'm trying myself by pushing the stock CID/default.xml and stock MNS/default.xml into a r3 build. I don't have Telstra so I can't test, but I'll flash the image, make sure it "works" as far as a normal phone goes, if so I'll up the kitchen patch I made and you can give it a go.

Haven't tested so this might break things, but the zip I fed into the kitchen is here.
