Guest Eligias Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has tried the gameloft hd games like Hawx, Dungeon Hunter, N.O.V.A, Gangstar or Asphalt on a Froyo device. They weren't playable with 2.1, the fps was terrible. Maybe they are now with Froyo and up to 40Megaflops? Would be great if someone could check this (I can't, because I have to wait till froyo is working on desire - Paul, do your magic please^^)
Guest geniusdog254 Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 I doubt it. It won't boost performance of things like that since theyre already written in OpenGL code, which is already at the machine level & skips the virtual machine. I've not tried it yet, but I'd bet money on it not being better. The only thing that I think may help it at this point is is improvements in the NDK, which may or may not have been made in the new 2.2 NDK. Even if they were, the apps would have to be recompiled with the new NDK to take advantage of it.
Guest bedwa Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Just tried a copy of Nova I had lying around and it was a "no va" or No Go....... oh well.
Guest H0CKEY Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 i just installed Gangstar, Let'sGolf! and Dungeon Hunter on my nexus one with Froyo 2.2 and they run perfect so far from what little play time i did on each title.
Guest MingoChang Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I think the 3D games from Gameloft are facing problems on N1. They were not well compiled and are lagging while launching. N.O.V.A can't run properly since when wifi downloading completes, it won't enter the game, if you quit and enter again, it requires you to start a download again... Anybody has the same problem?
Guest qvert Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 i tried hawx, it runs very well on the N1 with froyo
Guest Eligias Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 i tried hawx, it runs very well on the N1 with froyo great news, so there is a boost in fps? I know that N.O.V.A for example is atm not working on N1 or Desire, because they have the wrong files on their server and it won't complete loading them or something like that, but the fps on those, which were working was horrible Dungeon Hunter was playable, but a little bit laggy Hawx was playable too, but laggy and slow aswell Gangstar was not playable in my opinion - fps too low in action (crashes with many cars...) Let's Golf was playable on good fps Hero of Sparta - absolute no go, about 10fps maybe on desire... (would be great if someone could try this on froyo  Froyo is my last hope with those games - if it's not changing anything, I will definitly wait for a good device with at least 1GHz CPU and a PowerVR GPU. Those games will not be the last games ported from iPhone and most developers won't re-compile them for Android. I'm not that much a gamer, but I don't want to miss the best games and I don't want to hear anything like "Look what I have on my iPhone, what you can't play on your awesome android" from anyone with an apple -.- So far hope for froyo is the only thing I have^^ Dum spiro spero x)
Guest bedwa Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) yes, but we can show off flash on our phone and the free games that it brings from the "regular" internet. Plus we can play with webapps.... Pbbbbt to the apple geeks now... (I only keep a spare 3G after selling my 3Gs for my N1 to play eliminate pro... though Wi-Fi tethering from My N1..... :D ) Edit: both Dungeon Hunter and Hero of Sparta seem to work fine. In fact DH seems smoother and richer than the 3GS I had..... Edited May 25, 2010 by bedwa
Guest jakesankey77 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 I cannot seem to find any Gameloft games in the market since updating to FroYo. I can't find anything by typing names of games by them or even typing 'gameloft'.. any tips?

Guest bedwa Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 These HD ones are only through gameloft themselves. I was not able to find them except directly from them even with the prop fix.
