Strangeness with bootanimation.zip

I've been playing with a few different bootanimation.zip files and I can only got the original one and a nexus one one I found on the internet. I tried inverting a couple of frames and remaking the zip but it never works, I just get a blank screen. I don't really understand why. Even if I didn't edit any frames and just remade the zip file it still didn't work. Does the zip have to be signed or something or am I just being a bit stupid?

I'm using Pays rom (which is based on Paul's r3 rom I think). Thanks in advance guys.

Try to do a zip without compression.

also make sure your PNGs are 24bit only. MS Windows saves 32bit PNGs only and those will result in a black boot animation.

The 30. The first two being the size.

@Android85: I don't think this is the issue because I tried just repacking the original one but i'll bear it in mind for the future thanks.
