Guest charronegro1971 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Hey guys. I flashed FroYo on my Nexus One and I'm enjoying how smooth it's been running. Everything seemed to be working fine then suddenly my WiFi stopped working. I wiped my phone and reflashed the stock ROM (I'm using update-nexusone-EPF21B-signed) but the problem still persist. I haven't added anything extra to my phone such as the radio so I don't know what's happening. Has anyone experienced this as well? Holla back at me. I'm trying to enjoy the new ROM but not having WiFi takes away from the full capabilities of the phone.
Guest charronegro1971 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 This is just an extension to my first post. For whatever reason, I can't get the wifi to work on any of the other ROMs working either. I'm running Modaco's latest ROM (r22) as well as Enomther's latest ROM (v1.9.2) and of course Android 2.2. Ever since my wifi went out while using FroYo, I haven't had any luck getting it turned back on. I tried pushing intersectraven's latest pushing bcm4329.bo and radio.img and that didn't work either. I've wiped everything on the phone except the sdcard while in recovery. I've read that others have experienced the same problem. I know Paul is busting his ass working on the ROMs. I really hope he comes up with a solution to this. If someone has found a solution to this problem, I hope they share the knowledge.
Guest dc07 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I'm having the same issue, wifi sees the SSID but scanning... then disconnects, repeats. I have AT&T Nexus One with Froyo 2.2 Used these methods to mod, everything else works great, just not wifi... 1. How to unlock the bootloader: http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...your-nexus-one/ 2. Modaco's superboot: http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...-the-nexus-one/ 3. FRF50 with radio http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...online-kitchen/
Guest justbabu Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I also have issues with wifi. I have worked out that it is actually my home router at fault since the Nexus One with FroYo connects perfectly with my work router (a Buffalo G). The thing is, it repeatedly tries to get a DHCP lease from the router and fails. It works really well with a Static IP address when connected to the home router (a Belkin N1). Will try a new router and report back.
Guest justbabu Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Can you use wifi tethering? I tried wifi tethering from work today. Worked perfectly. I'll try from home after I have replaced the router. Well, replaced the Belkin router with a Linksys one and all working perfectly. I'm getting 19Mb download from speedtest.net app. So, somehow I had problems with the Belkin router after installing the FroYo update and the new radio. I can only surmise that they have switched on 'N' speed. Edited May 26, 2010 by justbabu

Guest P00rSpy Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 One thing is sure is that they worked pretty hard on the wifi side if you do a *#*#4636#*#* on the phone keypad you will noticed they added a full section on the wifi that was not there before froyo
Guest dc07 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I've tried on my home router (Dlink Xtreme N), and work router (linksys)... same result..
Guest Chicaned Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Anyone else registering odd link speed readings? I'm getting readings of 65/72Mbps on my 300Mbps DLink wireless N router.

Guest dc07 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Wifi Tethering is working, connected received IP addy.
Guest dc07 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Should I have wiped prior to installing 2.2?
Guest Chicaned Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Should I have wiped prior to installing 2.2? If it ain't working I'd do a full wipe. Blatantly!
Guest charronegro1971 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I have 2 routers in my home and i've tried to connect to both of them to no avail. i've also done a complete wipe and reinstall of froyo and the problem still persist. the biggest impact is that i now no longer have wifi for my modaco desire rom nor my enomther rom. i hope there's a fix for this soon. i can live w/o it but when i'm at home, i like having the ability to have faster internet connection w/ wifi.
Guest dc07 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Wifi is now working... I wiped everything, re applied 2.2
Guest charronegro1971 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Finally got my wifi working again. I didn't take the time to power cycle my router but i figured what that hell....lo and behold, wifi started working again. i couldn't quite understand why it suddenly stopped working because i haven't adjusted any settings but i can now take more time to enjoy froyo.

Probably had something to do with the MAC address being already stuffed into the router when the phone software was thinking it needed a lease. Router says no you dont - phone says yes I do. Damn phone sounds like my wife.
