Guest Superangel Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Hi everybody I've had my HTC Desire for around a month now, but I've recently noticed the touchscreen is becoming more and more unresponsive. Has anyone else noticed this? General navigation is fine, but playing games (especially ones needing 'precise' input, like Bonsai Blast) clearly shows the touch location is inaccurate, and sometimes multiple taps are not registered. Typing seems somewhat inaccurate too, but HTC's word correction/prediction is generally good enough to compensate. My question is: is this a hardware issue, or is there some software fix I can try? I've used touchscreen phones before, but never suffered this problem, so I'm unsure what to do. I've tried the keyboard recalibration and resetting the g-sensor, but it's made little discernible difference. If it is a hardware issue, will HTC try to repair the phone or just send me another one? Thanks in advance. P.S. I'm running the unrooted, stock Desire ROM. Edited May 24, 2010 by Superangel
Guest afiorillo Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 The first cause of such issues is a misplaced cover / screen protector that interferes with your fingers on the touch screen, altough this issue is more likely to happen with resistive screens than capacitive ones. Keep your display as clean as you can and use only quality screen protectors (Brando UltraClear is one of these).

Unfortunately, I don't use any screen protector, and the glass itself is kept clean, so I'm worried it's a hardware fault now. I've contacted HTC's email support, but it's always pretty awful; no-one takes responsibility and they love to copy and paste standardised replies

[...] Try to reset your Desire to factory defaults (make a backup first): if the issue will be still there, then you're right.
Guest Superangel Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Thanks, but still no luck, so I'll see what HTC can do. Thanks again
