okay so...i followed these steps: Instructions for flashing Paul's pre-rooted FroYo ROM. Instructions hold true for ANY custom ROM (MCR, Cyanogen, Desire etc)

1. Copy Paul's pre-rooted FroYo update.zip (from here) to the root of your SD Card.

2. Boot into recovery (Preferably at least Amon Ra 1.6.2 or newer/equivalent)

3. Make a nandroid backup (+ext if you use it)

4. Wipe data+cache, Battery Stats and Rotate settings

5. Flash Paul's Pre-Rooted FroYo ROM.

6. Reboot.

7. Wait for the radio update to finish & return to recovery.

8. Reboot again.

9. Enjoy 2.2.

When I was in the initial setup...my phone was freezing tremendously, and really acting like 20mhz processor not a 1ghz processor. I was using the the a21 rom, and followed the instructions above. I currently have tmobile in the US and use the wap settings as wap.voicestream.com. I'm not getting 3g just edge. Does the flash 10.1 come pre installed with this build i downloaded? bc i had to try to dl it through the market. When you restart the phone, when you get to the nexus animation, it runs really slow for 2 seconds then goes to the main desktop page. Do you all think I messed something up when I flashed the rom. I followed the above instruction to the T on this. The only thing I can think of is when I got to step 6 and it rebooted into recovery it said formatting cache. And just stayed there....i then rebooted and everything screwy happened (just a note, i left the phone untouched for 5 hours and it said formatting cache after step 6's reboot.) can someone please help me...or tell me what the hell I'm doing wrong....i feel like i have a froyo that is melted  PLEEEEEEEEAAASSSSSSEEEEE SOMEONE HEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Paragraphs make things much easier to read.

Flash is NOT included in FroYo (as it's not open source), it must be downloaded, this is normal.

If you can still scroll up & down in the menus when it says "formatting cache", then it's just leftover text from a previous operation and you can safely continue. Nothing that the recovery image can do should take any more than 5 minutes, ever.

Make sure that "Use 2G networks only" isn't ticked somewhere.

Can you please reiterate as to specifically what the main problem is, if not just the slow cell network?

I'd suggest reboot to recovery, wipe everything (Data+Dalvik cache, battery stats & rotate settings) and then reflash the ROM.

No idea what the APN config should be for your provider, but I'd try Jdoo's suggestion for a start.
