Guest Uxian Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Seems that the Froyo we have may have been released prematurely and wasn't ready for installation and perhaps a new version (annoyingly with the same filename) will be coming soon... http://phandroid.com/2010/05/24/froyo-may-...ed-prematurely/
Guest derekv6 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Paul -- do you have any way to confirm this?
Guest P00rSpy Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Im am no expert, but as far as I can see this release is quite stable so I can live with it until Cyan come out, only issue seem to be the store who doesn't offer some paid app, but when restored with titanium all is fine My suggestion to Phandroid is: <--- Run this way I will run that way ---> It's funny to see people who install hacked rom complain about a version coming directly from google Edited May 25, 2010 by P00rSpy
Guest shantzg001 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I don't think that is true in any sort of way.. Froyo works just fine.. The only issues are some apps not working because they haven't migrated to the new APIs and also the copy-protected apps access issue.. BTW, I'm documenting (work in progress) all the things this update brings us (Announced and un-announced) along with issues seen and their fixes/work-arounds if any here: Android Froyo and Nexus One: Everything we know Please do let me know if you see anything missing..

Actually you are missing one thing. There is a fix for no protected apps in the market, see my post on XDA about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687371
Guest shantzg001 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 ^^ thanks.. yeah i had read about it this morning but didn't update it yet because I haven't tried it.. Will try it out and update the post with your thread's link.

Yup, it's true, it was a pre-release. From Romain Guy and retweeted by Paul himself : "Android 2.2 is being rolled out to a very limited test group. We expect a final build to be available for OTA updates shortly, stay tuned!" http://twitter.com/romainguy

Guest Wardski Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Who cares, either way its bl00dy brilliant!
Guest Droid800 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Wait, so if this is true, what does this mean for the official Froyo update for Nexus One? If we've already upgraded, will we be able to upgrade to the new one? If the official update IS FRF50 but with some modifications, will it allow us to upgrade?
Guest snotf Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 seems like the ability to stream your itunes library is also annoyingly absent. it was never made clear if this was a function of an app google was going to release to accompany froyo, or contained in the actual update, but either way, i miss it.

OTA... no But a future Modaco release or CM release will work.
Guest slyydrr Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 OTA... no But a future Modaco release or CM release will work. Actually I'd have to disagree with this... if this were the case, then the people who were part of the very limited test group for pre-release Froyo wouldn't be able to upgrade to the release version. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine this situation being reality.

We expect a final build to be available for OTA updates shortly, stay tuned!" Yeah, which is exactly what the original post says. The version of 2.2 everyone downloaded was never meant to be released to the public. It was specifically sent to Google employee devices and press devices. Its buggy as hell after a few days of using it, and not ready for primetime.
Guest attn1 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Who cares, either way its bl00dy brilliant! yes it is.
Guest NexusOneMatt Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Been using it since 10minutes after Paul posted it Saturday.... I'm lovin it and haven't experienced this "buggy" issue, but maybe I've just got that kinda luck! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Paul/cyan/modaco can do with this like past ROMs!
Guest Nanu*1 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 A few bugs I have noticed are: No 'Silent' , If I take the ring volume right down I just get vibrate, and if I keep my finger on the volume down key the phone will continue to vibrate for as long as I hold it. The market takes ages to load no matter what I am doing. And last night it was nearly impossible to type on the Android keyboard as every keystroke was a mile out or keys were being pressed without my fingers doing the pressing. Also the trackball light notifications aren't functioning. Still happy though, and I'm sure these will be fixed when FroYo is pushed for real.

Guest willdenham Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 We have an even more legitimate source that this isn't the final 2.2 as well. Here, look at the best reply on this support forum thread. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/andr...60d13&hl=en
Guest Hap Hazard Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 I've noticed that turning off the Pattern-unlock via the Location & Security Settings main screen results in some buggy unlock behaviour. Going in through "Change screen lock" and turning it off from there works just fine. It's also made the screen-lock widget I use quite useless. Despite all this minor bugs, I am definitely not going to downgrade while waiting for the official release!
Guest Uxian Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Personally I've not experienced anything more serious than a greater tendency to lose 3G connectivity and the Smooth Calendar widget doesn't work anymore. OK so it isn't the official build, which I posted more as a warning to expect more builds rather than any complaint. Like most I'm still thankful that Paul took time out of his holiday to package this up and I'd rather have the incomplete build early than wait until Google polishes it before getting access to new features.
Guest k2bk2bk2b Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Well my batt life seems alot beta than any other roms i have tried
