upgrade htc hero help =)

I was given a htc hero with firmware 1.5 and modaco 3.1 core

im not sure what this means

I have been told modaco 2.1 is not out yet, but I would like to upgrade to a custom firmware/rom? before i do the modaco one just so I know the process. all help is welcomed as i am new to this scene.

there is a modaco 3.2 update on here just select what you want in the kitchen put it on your sd card turn the phone off turn it on holding on+home the select flash zip from sd card and it will do everything then just select reboot system now this could take 5-10 mins just leave it to finish
