Guest kevwright Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) Hi folks, got a brand new Vodafone UK N1 today, and want to put FroYo on. Paul told me via Twitter that I do not need to root, just apply the update.zip file, which I have done before on a couple of Android devices, so I sort of know what to expect. At first, I could not get it into the blue menu where it allows you to select the update.zip file, but realised I had to unlock the bootloader, so clearly I did this, so no sending this one back to Vodafone I guess :-) Now, when I try to flash it, it says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command And then it tries anyway, and says Finding update package Opening update package Verifying update package E:signature verification failed Installation aborted. Now, to me it suggests that I *do* need to go to ERE27 before I do this? It is currently on ERE21B UPDATE: Paul just replied to my tweet to say I need a custom recovery on the N1, so I am off to see how to do this...... TIA Kev Edited May 25, 2010 by kevwright

TIA Kev This is how you install custom recovery, in this case Amon_Ra 1.7.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829 P.S. I dont get it, if you have the official (unofficial/ premature) release of FRF50, why did you unlock your bootloader in case you could use the stock recovery to flash update.zip Anyway, its done already, check the custom recovery and play with different ROM's, maybe you can even try Desire port, it is good  Edited May 25, 2010 by Batkoto

Before it would let me get past the Warning Triangle page with the Green Android on, with Vol Up and Power, to access the stock recovery, I had no choice but to unlock bootloader. As you say, at least I can try any ROM now I guess :-) Kev
