Guest Namtaffy Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 You might want to run h2testw on that 3.2GB card from eBay!
Guest trashjunkie Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Hi, I got mine from my memory, card works fine. Using around about 24Gb currently (mostly my massive music collection) http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/SanDi...-Card---Class-2 I ended up paying around £85 because I found this 5% discount voucher may5mm (only valid in May)
Guest nitrox1 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Got one from Hong Kong on ebay, 7 days to arrive. Seems all good. Just loaded a 700 Mb file to it, using Win7, and SD card adaptor, through my SD card port. 3.8 Mb/sec write, 16.8 Mb/Sec read so am relatively happy, as it was a very reasonable price.
Guest djtosh Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 hi can you please provide link to the seller? im a bit weary of buying from ebay cos alot of people on ere have posted about gettin fake ones with much less storage than advertised
Guest lmb__ Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 You might want to run h2testw on that 3.2GB card from eBay! will do, thnx for tip
Guest Namtaffy Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Guys don't buy flash memory fron eBay unless it is a very highly rated seller based in the UK advertising "genuine" products. Ask the seller if they will warrant the capacity. I was involved in a "test" where we purchased 20 micro SD cards (because they are very common for use in phones and mp3 players) and 10 mp3/4 players all of 8, 16, 32gb capacity. We only purchased from east Asia and looked for the common price point on eBay as this was the product most people would be likely to purchase. Not one of the items was of genuine capacity. They all varied slightly but basically 8 gb products had around 1. 6 gb true capacity and 16 and 32gb products generally had around 3.4 gb capacity. The shocking thing about this was that there was almost no bad feedback suggesting there are lots of people trusting pics of loved ones etc to bad cards that will fail once they are filled beyond their true capacity. Basically once you fill the card to its true capacity the memory is overwritten from the beginning location although the file allocation table remains so it looks like your files are all there. But they are corrupted. These sellers go to great lengths to remove negative feedback such as promising refunds etc The bottom line is if its too good to be true it bloody well is. I wonder how many people with bricked usb were actually using fake unreliable memory cards, and they didn't know it? Please anyone who has a ebay memory card Google h2testw and check your cards. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and your cards are good

Guest nitrox1 Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) I feeel cheated. Did the H2testW check, it took me 4-5 Hrs to do it. And it shows it's nearly a completely corrupt 32Gb card. Now I have to wait and see what the seller says from ebay.uk The media is likely to be defective. 1.9 GByte OK (4024159 sectors) 29.3 GByte DATA LOST (61477025 sectors) Details:29.3 GByte overwritten (61477025 sectors) 0 KByte slightly changed (< 8 bit/sector, 0 sectors) 0 KByte corrupted (0 sectors) 16 MByte aliased memory (32768 sectors) First error at offset: 0x000000007acebe00 Expected: 0x000000007acebe00 Found: 0x00000007cecebe00 H2testw version 1.3 Writing speed: 3.63 MByte/s Reading speed: 7.39 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 How very rude....... Edit: I did it twice too, just to check Edited May 28, 2010 by nitrox1
Guest Namtaffy Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) so sorry for you mate. So what you have there is a rejected 2GB card (i.e. factory reject) that they steal from the dumpsters and mess with to make it read as a 32GB card.... Don't wait around for the seller, make am immediate claim via paypal for "item is counterfeit" and leave negative feedback, when he sees the claim & feedback he will probably refund you straight away if you agree to remove the bad feedback, its up to you if you do this, but dont remove feedback or close the paypal dispute until you have confirmed you received your money back. These guys know exactly what they're doing, it's not good at all. This method usually works, the most important bit is the negative feedback as paypal will tell you to post it back to him and he'll say he never receive it. (the cost of posting it back tracked is prohibitive) it doesn't bear thinking about the amount of photo's you could have lost, evil conning gits they are! phone ipod batteries, etc is another one. Most of them are rejects too, (peel off the stickers and look for the red x in marker pen) but those things can explode!! Edited May 28, 2010 by Namtaffy
Guest Alfa156v Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Hi all, Anybody tried to use 32GB card on A2SD/A2SD+? My problem is when i do partition on sd my desire doesn't starts.
Guest djtosh Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 after all the horror stories i decided just to get a 16gb class 2 from amazon for 27.99. not gonna spend 90-130 for 32 think ill deal with 16 for now until 32 price comes down or higher storage is released
Guest battletank Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Don't know about any horror stories. App2SD+ working fine here on a 32Gb class 2 Sandisk bought from play.com for £89 delivered - no slowdown over the 16Gb class 4 I was previously using and migration from one to the other was completely painless thanks to Acronis True Image (plus pack allows resizing/cloning to different sized disks).
Guest AndyCr15 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Is anyone noticing any slow down on a class 2 card? I'm fairly sure the 8gig I have now is class 6, but bigger class 6 are silly money.

However newer memory technology should hopefully push the price down. 90 is far too much for 32gb.

I have 32GB class6 card and after partitioning phone just can't starts. Wat is procedure that you did to install sd with a2sd+?
Guest battletank Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I have 32GB class6 card and after partitioning phone just can't starts. Wat is procedure that you did to install sd with a2sd+? I just used the partitioning tools in the recovery mode - depending on the kernel you're using, I partitioned 0 swap, 2048 ext and the rest as FAT32 (the kernel I've flashed supports ext4, but I suggest using ext3 unless you're sure your kernel supports it).
