Guest holybear Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Hello all, As a long-time WM user I felt it was time to look into this Android-thing, and bought myself a cheap Pulse (as new for 100 euros) which was, to my surprise, simlock-free. Playing with it for a day now, I've come across a couple of questions I may have missed the answers to on the forum (if I did, I apologise): -I added an MP3 to a new folder on the SDcard called "ringtones" - yet it doesn't show up in the ringtone-list. Wasn't that all I was supposed to do? -All the talk about A2SD seems to be about it being in a new custom ROM. Is it possible to add it to my stock ROM, and if so do I need to root the phone first? I'm not sure I feel quite up to that challenge yet, but I'm already down to 29MB space on the phone, so it seems it will soon become a problem... thaks in advance to anyone having the patience to deal with this Android-n00b.

Guest Azurren Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 For the ringtone open the music app, long press on the desired ringtone and select use as phone ringtone. As for the notification tone download an app called ringdroid and "edit" the track you wish to use. You don't have to edit it just save it as a notification and when promoted if you want to use it as default say yes  I don't know any other way.. Oh and if you take out your sd or mount it to your pc you will have to redo the above.. Sucks.. Apps 2 sd has issues.. I recommend not using it although it is usable. It is perfectly usable without after you install a custom rom :D
Guest holybear Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Thanks to you both! The music app-trick worked like a charm. I'll take my time looking into the custom ROM installation, and making sure I understand the basics before even attempting it. As fearless as I now am with WM, Android is still the Big Unknown to me...heh.
Guest h3dshot Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 well the guys above me already answered both of your questions, but i can suggest that you download the app 'tone picker' from the market, its free and lets you set ring tones etc. thanks
