Guest aversion Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) Hi all, I can't seem to get the GPS function working on my phone. Each time I test it using Chartcross GPS Test, I don't get any signal at all. It's an unlocked unit ordered from the UK, but I live in Australia. I've tried turning off mobile data and wireless functions and leaving GPS to get a fix, and the other similar methods (assuming I've gone about it correctly) but have had no luck. Thanks to all of the info available in this forum, my current phone specs are: - firmware version 2.1-update1 - baseband version 32.37.00.32U-4.06.00.16_2 - Kernel version 2.6.29-bravo-mck-r1 - Build number 1.21.MCR.2 CLxxxxxx release-keys - Software number MoDaCo Custom ROM for the HTC Desire r3 - Browser version WebKit 3.1 I tested GPS after rooting, then after flashing the custom ROM, then after updating the baseband but have still had no luck. GPS may not have been working out of the box, but I'm not entirely certain as it was not until having the phone for a couple of weeks that I tried using the GPS function. Everything else seems to have functioned correctly throughout. I would like to try to get it to work before dealing with the retailer or HTC. So, does anyone have any ideas on how to get it working - even simple things that I may have missed or done incorrectly -, or do I just have a dud phone? Sorry for the long post, just trying to include all relevant info I can think of. Cheers Edited May 26, 2010 by aversion

Cheers GPS functionality was an issue on all the Australian Desire's, but an OTA fix was issued at the end of April (link) - I suspect that the fix has not been rolled into the Modaco ROM.
Guest aversion Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 My phone is not a Telstra supplied phone. It was imported from the UK to use here so it shouldn't have the same problem. But anyways, as it's not a Telstra phone, the OTA update and flashing a Telstra ROM aren't doable.

Make that definitely doesn't. It was Telstras meddling that screwed the GPS. Even if it was rooted I wouldn't try the Telstra ROM. Id rather have a broken GPS than Telstra branding
