Guest akhtar1817 Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Hi guys, couldnt wait for Paul to release 2.1 so i downloaded Cronos and I must say, its very quick and stable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684654
Guest Mansn Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Now that is really superfast ! Thank you. Fast it is ... but it also eats battery like no tomorrow. Again I have returned to MoDaCo, as I just can't deal with the battery usage.
Guest raskall Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Fast it is ... but it also eats battery like no tomorrow. Again I have returned to MoDaCo, as I just can't deal with the battery usage. I don't quite get that. I spent yesterday from 06am until 11pm without charging my phone. Checked email, surfed the web, used the GPS for 30-45 minutes or something. Battery was at 49% when I got home at 11. I think that's decent for a super fast, overclocked 2.1 ROM.

For me the ROM went from 100% battery to 77% in 8 hours of idling. Yesterday I was using my Hero for around 6 hours and the battery dropped from 100% to around 50%. Same usage on MoDaCo left me around 80%. So yes, it is fast, but I want to be sure of the fact that my phone is not going to die in one day. Cronos killed my battery once while I was out and about and it really screwed my day.
Guest Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Gonna give this a go. FINALLY bought my Titanium Backup license to help out. :(
Guest mobydeek Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 ive been getting SMS Errors with Cronos. Battery is worse but if it was just as stable as MCR 3.2, the fact it is 2.1 probably just about makes up for the quicker battery loss. have u checked out this post about battery loss? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670999 Either way, im back to MCR3.2 again from RaduG VanillaEclair/Cronos 1.4.1/VillainRom 6.1 in the past week or so
Guest klutsh Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Villain 6.1 and the Lag issue has now been solved. Had it on my Hero for 2 days now, and I can't say I have seen one bug, Still looking forward to getting a proper GSM rom on it though, all this CDMA porting can't be perfect.
Guest Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Had a look in the XDA thread and didn't see anyone else having problems but after flashing I couldn't get past the splash screen. I left it for about half an hour and nothing appeared to be happening. Nandroid restoring as I type.
Guest lupinehorror Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 i didn't find the battery drain any more excessive with cronos than the majority of 2.1 roms...currently using villain 6.2 with the ben39_nobfs kernel though and things are quite quick and stable.
Guest ssndip Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I tried all 2.1 ROMs , cronos is fast but it was unstable with my hero , sometimes the screen won't lit .. with overclocked kernel. other times i get FC's .. So .. modaco 3.2 with maxisma overclocked kernel @710mhz all the way for me. The best combo for the moment.
Guest ZeppeMan Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 (edited) I had MoDaCo 3.2 with Kimera 650Mhz kernel, this was and still is a very stable an fast combo. But I couldn't resist to try an 2.1 ROM. I tried a couple of those ROMs, but didn't like most off them, untill yesterday I installed Androlib_R. Running since yesterday. - 690Mhz - JIT - AutoKiller set to aggresive. - Launcher Pro (very fluid) No lag at all! No FC's, no freezes and this with JIT enabled! With Linpack, this gives me a score of 4.7MFLOPS :( Very fast and stable ROM! I think I stick on this ROM. (Or maybe try Cronos ROM first) Can't w8 untill Paul gets his hands on a 2.1 ROM :( Edited May 31, 2010 by ZeppeMan

Guest keef319 Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 I've been using Cronos 1.4.1 for about a week now, also using Juice Defender too. It's very fast, very little lag (even Twidroid scrolls smoothly). Sometimes I switch between Sense or running Vanilla with LauncherPro Beta. As for battery, took it off charge 10:30 on Sunday, down to 20% by 17:00 on Monday and only put a bit of charge in as I was going out for the evening. Easily gets over 32hrs. I ALWAYS find I need to give the phone a few days to settle after a complete wipe and flash of a new ROM. Hell, the first day with Cronos I got about 7hrs!! 2nd about 15hrs. It creeps up...
