[FIX] - New Amon RA Recovery Console released

Hi folks,

a new version of the Amon RA's Recovery Console was built specifically for the HTC Desire by ahmgsk, the guy that is working on the FroYo port too.

Basically, this build fixes the ext partition wipe, meaning way less boot loops after flashing/upgrading. :(

ahmgsk said that as soon as it'll eventually "brick" his Desire (he flashes 30+ times a day) he'll go deep into the issue in order to sort it.

I have yet to figure out why should i install this recovery and use it over what i have now...

You cannot "install" a recovery console into the Desire, you can only "push" it via ADB using the appropriate script for your PC OS.

As I said in the very first post, this recovery console is able to actually wipe the ext2/3 partition of the sdcard (the previois one didn't work), so it's no more necessary to re-partition the card at every ROM upgrade / factory reset (if App2SD was installed, of course).

Where do I push it to? :( I've searched but couldn't find a tut telling how to do it :s

Reboot your phone into recovery mode (power button+volume down button hold, then choose the "recovery" option, your should have the red triangle), then plug your device to your computer, then launch a terminal, go to the directory where you extracted this new recovery console, and finally, run the command recovery-windows.bat in the terminal (or Mac or Linux, depending on your OS of course).

He just needs to execute recovery-windows.bat no need to open a command prompt...

ofc you need to pay attention and execute the file as according to your OS (obviously :( )

Ah lol, so I just launch recovery through the new file, and that's it?

Ok, thought I had to adb push the new recovery to the phone :(

so far I think, unless I am mistaken no-one USB bricked yet using this recovery, please correct me if i am wrong. Personalty i still don't think this is the answer to the problem and still a possibility of USB bricking so use at your own risk.

I am following original topic @ XDA as I wanted to give it a go then some people having some trouble with all

functionalities initially...

Seems to be stable ATM will give it a spin later as flash itch is kickin in this weekend :(

This is a custom recovery based on Amon RA's recovery (NexusOne) source.

It isn't do it by Amon RA.

I think i came across someone over at XDAs managing to brick his phone with this Recovery...

Nobody ever said that this console is for avoiding "bricking", as stated in the first post it just fixes the ext wipe feature.
