Guest afiorillo Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) From richardtrip, here's the first FroYo ROM release (port) for the Desire. Click here to head to the official thread (mirrors at this post). Very early release, Bluetooth and Camera still not working, but it's a rooted and kernel-patched ROM with almost all FroYo juice in it. :( Worth a try for brave ones. **UPDATE** Now Bluetooth working 90% (still some A2DP issues with selected devices) and Camera 50% working with a workaround (disable autofocus). Still no movie shooting and no Facebook synchronization. I can say that this is the fastest ROM I've ever seen, it's my primary one. **UPDATE** Now photo camera working 100% (autofocus fix), video camera still not working. **UPDATE** Added kernel options. Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 how do i know if the app it 2.2 ready? - check with app author how to connect the phone to htc sync? - don't know, probably not working yet how to move apps to sd card? - again, check with author of app as they need to allow it to be moved to SD As per usual, know what you're doing before flashing the first ROM the pops up...

Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Because the author of the app needs to re-write it to allow it to be moved to the sd card - it's been mentioned a lot before in other threads so read them

Guest steedy27 Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Hi guys got a couple of questions be great if you could answer them as I am a complete Newbie to this, Firstly do i have to Root my phone - Would Pauls version of this still be ok? Then after i root my phone will these steps work to flash 2.2 1. Backup your phone with titanium or something 2. Backup your micro SD onto your comp 3. Format SD to FAT32 4. Copy DEfrost.zip to the SD. 5. If your Desire is still on, turn it off now. 6. Turn it on by holding the voulme down button and enter recovery mode. 7. Start recovery-windows.bat 8. Choose wipe and then wipe data/factory reset. 9. Pres volume down to get to the main menu. 10. Go and Flash the defrost.zip 11. Once finished choose reboot and enjoy Froyo. Another question :( sorry n- at step 7 I assume i open this on the windows machine - How do i choose the wipe is there special code for this? Sorry about this guys just wanna get all the steps 100% before i try ..

You have to root it yes, and Paul's method will work The other steps you mentioned will work too Entering recovery means you get in a special menu, the recovery menu where you've got some basic things you can do. One of them is "wipe". You just select it by pressing your track pad :( Edited May 28, 2010 by Need_A_Username

Guest bungle89 Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 The ROM is great, just one problem that I cant live with, whenever I make a call or receive a call the other person can hear themselves echo, it is annoying all of my mates now!! Has anybody else got this problem or is it just me?! Cheers

However, the only thing I really miss is Facebook sync (not speaking of the crappy camera quality). For everything else is a GREAT ROM, perhaps the best I've seen so far.
