Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I was having some battery problems so I decided to do a factory reset... But now the HTC boot screen keeps appearing, and logcat is going nuts and looks to be repeating itsself!! I am scared to yank the battery out! g certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/AccountSyncManager.apk changed; collecting certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.apk changed; collect ing certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/restartapp.apk changed; collecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 13440 objects / 941312 bytes in 53ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htcsettingwidgets.apk changed; collecting c erts I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htcsearchwidgets.apk changed; collecting ce rts I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htcmsgwidgets.apk changed; collecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 11272 objects / 820680 bytes in 52ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htcmailwidgets.apk changed; collecting cert s I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htccontactwidgets.apk changed; collecting c erts I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htccalendarwidgets.apk changed; collecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 10489 objects / 797440 bytes in 52ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/htcbookmarkwidget.apk changed; collecting c erts I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/gtalkservice.apk changed; collecting certs W/PackageParser( 664): Unknown element under <application>: intent-filter at /s ystem/app/com.htc.MusicWidget.apk Binary XML file line #9 I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/com.htc.MusicWidget.apk changed; collecting certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/YouTube.apk changed; collecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 9573 objects / 716472 bytes in 53ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/WidgetDownloadManager.apk changed; collecti ng certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 12358 objects / 949048 bytes in 54ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/VpnServices.apk changed; collecting certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk changed; collec ting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 11425 objects / 853816 bytes in 53ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/VisualizationWallpapers.apk changed; collec ting certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/Vending.apk changed; collecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 5874 objects / 600208 bytes in 54ms I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/UserDictionaryProvider.apk changed; collect ing certs W/PackageParser( 664): Unknown element under <manifest>: uses-library at /syste m/app/UploadProvider.apk Binary XML file line #5 I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/UploadProvider.apk changed; collecting cert s I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/Updater.apk changed; collecting certs I/PackageManager( 664): /system/app/TtsService.apk changed; collecting certs D/PackageManager( 664): Scanning app dir /data/app I/PackageManager( 664): /data/app/Development.apk changed; collecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 15773 objects / 1048792 bytes in 58ms I/PackageManager( 664): /data/app/com.google.android.apps.maps.apk changed; col lecting certs D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 14042 objects / 883368 bytes in 57ms D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 1456 objects / 398448 bytes in 51ms D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 18 objects / 201880 bytes in 49ms D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 5 objects / 87536 bytes in 49ms I/dalvikvm-heap( 664): Grow heap (frag case) to 7.022MB for 103143-byte allocat ion D/dalvikvm( 664): GC freed 0 objects / 0 bytes in 66ms Edit/Delete Message
Guest craigcrawford1988 Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 You need to re-flash a ROM when you factory reset I think.
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 You need to re-flash a ROM when you factory reset I think. I had a feeling this may be the case, but with all off these USB bricking issues im quite nervous to redo it!
Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Do an official ROM that is done in Windows - should be fine that way (assuming your stock ROM is available)
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Just reflashed two new roms one before a wipe and one after and I still appear to be stuck in that loop! I noticed it failed to install APPS2SD due to some of the folders already exisiting - should I repartition the sd card?
Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Have you tried my suggestion - flash a stock ROM and make sure that works first?
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Have you tried my suggestion - flash a stock ROM and make sure that works first? Would the one that paul combines with the rooting process be acceptable? that is pretty much stock isn't it?
Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I'd use 100% stock tbh, but only if you can get the one for your handset. Once/if that's working then look into rooting again from scratch
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Ok, i've got it to boot to a custom ROM but its still complaining about APPS2SD, is there any way to wipe all of the settings for this? I tried the wipe in the RC but that seemed to have no effect
Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Try...A...Stock...ROM (unless yours isn't available - in which case no idea :()
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Try...A...Stock...ROM (unless yours isn't available - in which case no idea :() I tried to find one, but failed :(
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 What country you in? and Operator? UK, Vodafone - Found ones for T-mob, O2 and 3 :(
Guest EddyOS Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Ahhhh...there's a new OTA FW update on the VF forum but not the full original ROM. This is why I got my Desire SIM free on upgrade from CPW and not from VF! :( Edited May 28, 2010 by EddyOS
Guest Nebulous Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 During the first boot of the rom it just complains that the files are already there, so maybe I could go into recovery and delete them manually?
Guest StrongOneX Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Cheers for your help anyway :( Go here and download this partitioning program: URL REMOVED **WAREZ** Enter recovery menu on your phone and select USB-MS. Guest craigcrawford1988 Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Nebulous, is there ANY branding on your device? You say it's stock, I thought this too when I bought mine only to find Virgin Media etc on it. I made a goldcard and flashed a MCR and MCK to get rid of it. Edited May 29, 2010 by craigcrawford1988
