Guest rhath127 Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 hi guys, I have used the r5 method in being able to root to change roms. My first question is - do I always need to run 'step2-windows.bat' in order to get to the recovery menu or should I have access automatically once the rooting is completed? Also, whats the main difference between paul's r3.1 rom and the rom under r5? (i noticed r3.1 has additional files and stuff, where as r5 is a vanilla rom). Is this correct? Also am i able to run apps like Adfree or market enabler? Also how do i change the boot logo / animation?> thanks for all your help. Good job to Paul too. - richie

It's needed to induce recovery or you'll just be staring at the red exclamation mark. r5 is just the root. It's basically just stock + root. r3.1 is a customised build by Paul, it features kernel improvements and optimisations, bugfixes, etc... Well worth it. Market enabler shouldn't really be needed if you use the MCR r3.1, I believe you can use adfree (though don't quote me on this). There are plenty of threads on changing the bootanimation.
