USB Data connection problem

Hey

I haven't been able to get a USB data connection since my usb port broke and then got fixed. I assumed this was because of physical damage to a processor or something but is it possible it's firmware related? And if so would reflashing the December update (or 2.1) fix this?

I've happily been using my phone without connecting to my computer, but now with 2.1 coming out I need it back (to reinstall Amon RA recovery).

I obviously don't want to go ahead and try because I wouldn't be able to then go back to a MCR (I think).

Perhaps a better question someone could help with, Is there a way to install a CRI without connecting to a computer ie. flashing it like ROMs?

I don't know better way but on which operating system you are..sound like driver problem to me...if you are on Windows7....install win 7 drivers...search them in this forum somewhere

I'm on linuxmint, so don't think its a driver problem, the phone charges but nothing else...

Ok, I've updated to the official 2.1 ROM. Still no usb connection, looks like it is physical damage to the phone. Update went well though so have a working phone with 2.1, just looks like I'm stuck with it now, no chance for custom ROMs. Oh well...

Also, where are the 2.1 apps? don't come up in Market.
