Hi,

I have a curios problem with 2.1:

I search the Market for Google Goggles an cant find, same with using QRcode. Some other Apps are also missing, like Barcoo! :(

Can anybody confirm this as a bug?

Nor me, and I had the same issue with the leaked 2.1 ROMs.

Are we somehow set to a region which these are not valid for?

Ok, Goggles work on Pulse, heres my workaround!

Download the apk here and copy it to your SD-card:

http://google-goggles.softonic.de/android/download

Install it via the Filemanager, after this its necessary to reboot the Phone to get goggles work like it should! :(

btw have many other people with 2.X Handsets this problem, like Desire or Legend, so its fortunately no Pulse only problem!

I was looking at Gizmodo's 16 best apps this month ( http://gizmodo.com/5550981 ), and 7 out of the 16 are not available on the market.

Some of them make sense to be tied to a region, but I wonder whether there's another reason others don't show up, and if we're missing anything we should be getting due to odd settings.

The ones that don't show are - Mint, NY Times, Epicurious, Square, Dropbox (the official one - actually is this on the market anywhere or only via their website?), calltrack, Sirius XM.

I googled alot and found out that many Handsetusers have this Problem, ordinary those with fresh released phones!

Meanwhile I think its a market problem and could only be solved by Google...an I hope they will.

This is a know problem on the Pulse. The reason why it doesnt get fixed is that google sees it as a feature. It has something to do with unlocked/unbranded phones and the copy protection in the market.

In the 1.7 MCR this 'bug' was fixed.

By searching for 'documents' in the market i got 35 results on my stock 1.5 pulse, 79 with MCR and about 45 with 2.1 stock.

was slightly different for me. Using BB's 2.1 release 'broke' my market account. Everything worked OK if I created a new Google account, but I needed to use my original account.

Even flashing the stock 1.5 image didn't fix it. I followed the advice on XDA and bought a device running stock Donut. This fixed my Google market account.

I can find plenty of paid apps using the official 2.1 ROM, it's just the odd few that don't show up; ShopSavvy and Twidroid (free and Pro) for example. I actually remember when I first installed MCR 1.7 I could find those two but only a few days ago using the same ROM, I couldn't. So I wonder if something has changed somewhere.

Market issues are caused by Google not adding the ROM fingerprint to the Market database. There are other devices with the same issue. What doesn't help us is that Huawei signed the 2.1 Pulse rom using test keys, which means it will never see copy protected apps on the market. The solution for now is to change the fingerprint to another device like the Nexus or HTC Legend. Quickest way is to find and install Eris Market Fix.

Any changes you make using a fix like this or by editing build.prop manually need some time to work, sometimes 24 hours.

btw I'm using the Nexus fingerprint. I don't see Shopsavvy or Evernote though, but I do see Twidroid.

BTW if anybody is able to see both those apps could they please mention what fingerprint they are using in build.prop please.

it didnt matter what build.prop I used, it appeared my account was damaged by using 2.1

Try going back to a 1.5 ROM and see if those apps are visibile

Thanks! :D For anyone else reading this, I want to emphasize that you have to reboot your phone for Goggles to work properly. I spent a long time thinking I had an incompatible .apk file for the phone or something else was wrong before realizing that I simply had to turn my phone off and on again to get it working! All good now. :D

If you mean android 1.5 MCR 1.7 then no. Install android 2.1 then download the APK manually :(

Errrr.. Use Google Navigation on 2.1 / 2.2 or buy / acquire some software.

the trial (2.6.1) is gone, because of newer versions (3.5) which are there in to flavours. the navigon select for t-mobile customers which shall be free for them and the paid version for the rest...

... but I can not see one of them in the market with my pulse 1.6 FLB ROM on t-mobile contract/sim.

seems the fingerprint does not fit.

if anyone can help me, please?

regards

Uli
