I was just flashing the froyo rom and when I pushed recovery, the screen flickered and dropped back to the red triangle....

I was going to battery pull but tried pushing recovery again and got "device not found", tried a few more times and it eventually pushed but then it said it couldn't mount the sd card.... strange thing is it said cant write to "e:/recovery/log or /resource/log or similar, maybe someone will know what the message may have been, then it said "unable to mount sd card" or similar...... so i went ahead and wiped everything in the recovery ignoring the errors, then pulled the battery pull. Restarted into recovery mode and tried pushing recovery, it failed about 4-5 times, then it worked, recovery pushed and I was able to flash the froyo rom and everything still works....

did I just by a miracle of luck just escape a brick or was this just an unrelated glitch??

Please have a look with Root Explorer at /data/data/recovery/ if u have this folder and if there are files... specially a log file if yes please upload it.

I think if u have a logcat log it will help us! Maybe u have luck and your device escaped from a brick!?

Which Rooting Method u use? And which Hboot?

Actually, it's not completely random - there is a CAUSE.
