"Get a USB-Bricked Desire to Paul" Fund

This USB-Brick issue is a royal pain the backside! I propose that we set up a fund to replace a volunteers bricked desire (I think we will get a few applicants for this!) and they can send their brick to Paul for him to analyse.

It seems that until he actually gets his hands on a bricked desire we're all just flying blind as to what the heck is causing this in the first place.

What say you? Are we game?

Obviously there are issues surrounding who manages the fund and how we do the swap of funds/phone but I think it's doable if the will is there.

im sure someone with a bricked desire lives somewhere close to paul and could take it him to play with for a day 2 if ncessary...

and .... looks like they found the problem over at xda

the first 150b of the misc partition is being overwritten.

if they can flash the image from a non bricked desire they may have a fix

all the files are over at xda .... no one tried it yet

someone with a bick needs to try and flash the misc img ... the one thats on its own... the post with 3 is a dump from a brick

if there is anyone brave enought with bricked USB you can try this :

cat /dev/zero >/dev/mtd/mtd0

flash_image misc misc.img

note if you don't have flash_image binary you need to put it somewhere in data partition

misc.img.zip

I wouldn't go flashing something like that quite yet, we have no idea what is contained within that 150b

i just quoted it from xda and we do know ... well i dont .... but ther is a working and a bricked misc over at xda .... feel free to compare them

My Desire is "still" fine, but I would donate the $32 in my paypal acc from some refund right away if it helps solving the bricking issues. :(
