Guest gforums Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 EDIT: This guid is working, but WLAN is not!! So I don't recommend this if using on a daily use phone...!!!! Okay, I finally managed to get the movistar image on my t-mobile UK phone. Credits go to: BigBear MDC (http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile-pulse-pulse-modaco-com/309659/dont-just-flash-updata-files-unless-you-really-know-what-youre-doing/) Paul (http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile-pulse-mini-pulsemini-modaco-com/308967/19-may-stock-rom-downloads/) Koush Disclaimer: You do this at your own risk... Tutorial is for windows users. Note: The Movistar Image only comes with a few languaegs: Catalan, Englisch, Espanol. (is there a way to add languages somehow?) Follow these steps: 1. Download the movistar image: U8110V100R001C85B214SP05 (T-Mobile) Download 2. Download this perl script: download 3. Windows users download Strawberry Perl: download 4. Unpack the movistar image You'll find an UPDATA.APP file within. Extract it at the same place, where you put the "split_updata.pl" script to. 5. run the perl script open a command box (cmd.exe) and go to the folder with the script and the updata.app file. Type "perl split_updata.pl updata.app" This will create a new folder with some output files. 6. Identify the right images Go to the newly created folder "output" and look for a file with slightly more than 2 MB: file20.mbn is our "boot.img". Rename it... The file "recovery.img" is our "system.img" file. also rename this file. 7. Flashing the files To flash the files, we need fastboot-windows. You'll find it within Koush's Clockwork Recovery 1.8.1.4. download Once downloaded, extract the files somewhere. Now put your phone in bootloader mode: Hold down red button (call end) together with "volume down" while pressing the Power button. You are in Bootloader mode and stuck with a t-mobile screen. Now copy your renamed "boot.img" and "system.img" in the folder, where your fastboot-windows.exe is located. Open a command box, navigate to the right folder and type the following commands: fastboot-windows.exe flash boot boot.img fastboot-windows.exe flash system system.img fastboot-windows.exe erase userdata fastboot-windows.exe erase cache fastboot-windows.exe reboot Thats it! The device should boot with a new boot animation and then come up with a new looking, much nicer interface. Let me know, if this has worked for you. I'll try the same procdeure also with some other roms, if I find some time. Personally, I am only missing the german language that way.
Guest gforums Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 an additional note: I also flashed the hongkong pccw image now. (http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/downloadCenter.do?method=list&flay=software&directoryId=20&treeId=0#) But the same wifi problem in this image...unable to start wlan. So I recommend staying with the original image, until someone (Paul?) finds a fix for it
Guest gforums Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 looks like all firmware files with "SP01" at the end won't work out of the box with the uk pulse mini. only the generic SP05 firmware does work with wifi and gsm/umts. possibly a small hardware modification? Hope paul will be able to get things working, all other images look much nicer than the t-mobile UK one
Guest chiggz Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Hey.. Why would people want to do this? Is it because the T-Mobile version contains their customisations whereas the Moviestar is more generic (untouched 2.1)? Thanks,
Guest gforums Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 yes, movistar is rather untouched. I would prefer it, if it would work with full hw support
Guest JerryChu Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 yes, movistar is rather untouched. I would prefer it, if it would work with full hw support There is SP02 U8110 V100R001C85B215SP02(TMO UK) , have you tried this one?
