OpenVPN connects but doesn't establish tunnel on Desire ROM r22

I am running Modaco's Desire ROM, version r22, on an AT&T Nexus One. It works great, except for one thing: OpenVPN

I am able to get OpenVPN to establish a connection to my company's network - it appears to authenticate fine, and OpenVPN Settings reports that the status is "Connected", however the tun0 device does not look like has not been assigned an IP address and I cannot access anything through the VPN.

The exact same config file, certificates and keys works fine with CyanogenMod.

There isn't anything obvious in the system log to indicate what the problem might be.

Any suggestions?
