Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I'm not entirely sure this has been specifically brought up, not recently at any rate. My SPV was getting _very_ laggy, almost to the point where i was going to go back to my old j70. SMS writing involed 30-pause's, 30 seconds of typeing, then a 30 second pause etc. Menu's would also act in the same manner and it was taking hours to move about the phone. Then i installed the Plast'X home screen, and it amazing the difference it has made. I can quickly navigate menu's with no hassle, and i get one SMS pause when first starting. My previous home screen was my own custom one with the majority of the plugins selected. Plast'X seems to have the majoirty as well, which is why i chose it. Anyone else had similar problems?
Guest Lojt Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 After installing the danish update, i have NO pauses when writing sms's ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Mine's like that now ;) Only reason for the update i have now is extended battery life.
Guest DJHope Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Yep Danish Update did me wonders for speed, but yes when i got rid of the orange homescreen and replaced it with my own it speed up ten fold! DJ Hope
Guest D4LE Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 what is the plast'x homescreen? and where can i get it from as my spv is getting sluggish. was thinking of going down the route of the danish update but can't get it to work but just backing up the IPSM so am going to wait till i get a 64mb SD card so i can do the full backup. also anybody had problems with backing up just IPSM on a 8mb card as it will do everything fine for me until i take a file off and try and restore the old IPSM?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 10, 2003 Report Posted February 10, 2003 The Plast'x is here I'm not sure if the IPSM backup on the 8MB card worked for me but I still went DK update anyway :)
Guest rashah Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Perhaps I'm being thick, but can't someone just back ISPM folder to a PC's hard disk and reinstall it after a reset? thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 17, 2003 Report Posted February 17, 2003 No as it's a different format that is only readable at the initial bootup of the phone. (sorry my terminology is not good at this time of day :) ) Once you copy the files to the SD card your PC and your phone will not be able to read the card, your phone will ask to format the card in normal running mode. once you do a back up the card is only usable during the hard resetdecert period where it can be read properly.
