Guest Jez_ Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Hi, Today I rooted my phone using the excellent guide on here by Paul ( http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...o-1-21-support/ ) however I'm now looking to install the default Android 2.1 with no extras, HTC Sense interface or addons. I've had a good look / search on the forums but can't find a guide that's as easy to use as Pauls one. I did also look at the 2.2 Froyo download, but couldn't find an install guide like Pauls for that either. I'm probably being completely blind, but would really appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction.. Many thanks, Jez :(

The only reason why I've came back from that rom just because I can't stand without Sense. The installation is really simple. There is a post about it in modaco or visit xda forum
Guest nitrox1 Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Have a look at: [ROM] Pays-ROM Desire Sparta v1.1 Dalvik+A2SD (Vanilla taste) [05/29/10] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689558 Is overclocked and undervolted, as well as having A2SD, very slim ROM. Instructions are there too. I kept having problems flashing a baked rom without sence on it from Modaco (sorry to say).

I'll have to pass on Launcher Pro though as I'm looking for less eye candy and am keen to try the vanilla Google Android rom. I've had a look at the defrost rom, but can't find an install guide and it seems to still have a few small bugs to fix, so I'll hold off on that till it's 100% finished. :(
Guest Frankish Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 I like the look of the Pays rom. I'd love to be able to dual boot a sense rom and a non sense rom. Will probably try to flash that pays one soon though.

I'm looking for a clean rom that doesn't even have sense added to it (just rooted), so will have to pass on this rom for the moment. :(

Have a look in the settings also, there is a lot of nice stuff to personalize it.

I just want the stock vanilla / clean Android install, without anything more (if possible). Then I want to go from there if I decide it's not what I want... :(

Guest Namtaffy Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 defrost is the closest you will get (and it's froyo) but there are still issues with the camera, A2SD on it is quite pathetic, no wifi hotspot, no usb tether and lots of little bugs like orange charging light staying on, apps crashing/not installing etc just wait for defrost to reach v1 and try that meanwhile, read the forums and learn how to flash roms etc before you damage your device

I'll have to pass on that rom for the moment mate as the notes for it say "Bluetooth dont work, Camera has little problems", and I need the camera to fully work. :(

I'm going to stay away from Froyo until an official release or something more final is out there. I have started looking at the possibility of building a 'minimal' custom rom with 'peep / footprints / friend stream / stocks / learn more icon' removed. Have spotted a guide for building custom roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682972 But that still wouldn't remove the HTC Sense interface, so I need to look at this further...

Then just install the launcher2.apk. That's pretty much the stock android look. When you press home set it as default and it will be like Sense is no longer there!
