I should think the modificaton would need to be made to the kernel source and then compiled.

I'm sure someone around here could probably achieve it!

Of course the wifi battery usage is bad enough as it is...imagine how bad it would be if you increased the wifi power by 50% of what it is at now (50% of 65% = 33%, thus 65% + 33% = 98% for those who can't do maths or statistics).

That would effectively raise the battery usage by 50%, meaning you battery would use 15% for ever 10% it used to use on wifi.

Or something like that!

Also, there might be health concerns...who knows why it is set low!

I'm interested in the opposite direction: reduce the wifi power or tweak driver setting to achieve a better power-saving mode.

Compared to my previous Nokia E51, the liquid's wifi seems to drain too much power when the phone is idle.

kernel do nothing here. drivers is binary blob(firmware) that loading kernel module, and we cant edit thise. we can edit nvram parametres or try rebuild kernel module with newer version of sources. also may be possible activate fm radio-bt,wifi,fm in one chip, and as i see in datasheet for bcm4325-fm module and bt in one bus :(

Health concerns...? You are more at risk when you walk outside in daylight, these things barely emit any energy in the form of radiation.

Anyway, I noticed the same, it does seem like that other phones do pick up more access points more easily, and hey, I charge my phone every night anyway.
