Guest yatpeak Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Hi All, I notice that on the definitive lists for connections (eg Shaks Jan 29,spacemonkey Jan 29) that the connections specified are IE to "The Internet", in Data settings there's a wap proxy from "the internet" to "WAP network" and a GPRS connection that connects to "The Internet". I'm in Australia and no connections like this worked for me. I can only connect through my phone company by setting IE to connect through "WAP network" and setting the WAP network to run through my providers complicated Access point name. Does this mean that you guys in UK get a much faster connection than I do, or am I doing the same thing as you in a different way. My download speed under this connection is definitely quicker than dial-up. Also, I mentioned that I couldn't get MSN Messenger to connect in an earlier post, but I'm not sure that I mentioned the fact that I can connect to it through Dial Up, just not through GPRS. If anyone could help me on these problems I would greatly appreciate it and if I already mentioned the fact that I could get to messenger with dial-up I'm sorry for repeating myself. Thanks, Wyatt
Guest HelloDave Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Possibly your phone company's WAP proxy is just that - a WAP proxy, and doesn't allow you to connect to the internet at all. Can you access normal websites? Even if you can, it could just be that the Messenger protocol is unsupported by your proxy, especially since you can connect via dial-up.
