Guest tatey2457 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Is there a guide out there that would enable me to root a T-mobile branded rom myself?
Guest EddyOS Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Are you being serious? The guide is right above this thread!!
Guest tatey2457 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Are you being serious? The guide is right above this thread!! I dont want to install Pauls rooted update...I want to break down the T-mobile rom and add root to it keeping the T-mobile branding
Guest EddyOS Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Why on earth do you want the T-Mobile branding? I don't think it can be done, no one bothers with it and moves to a generic ROM. Better in the long run
Guest tatey2457 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 If it can be done to a stock rom then why not a branded one? I wanted to know because I'm very new to Android and I like to learn how to do things for myself rather than relying on someone elses efforts, as appreciated as they are
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) i actually wouldn't mind some more information on the process, or a guide or something too... just out of interest more than anything else tho. Edited June 2, 2010 by Pyr0x64

I found this may or may not be what your looking for, it goes on about the hero rom, I am not an expert, and it would be nice if someone corrected me if I was wrong but the processes is probably similar to any android rom, obviously give and take a few things contained. worth a read anyway to give you a general idea how its done. or how it was done. here either way by swiftly reading it, i come to the conclusion its easyer to wait and let someone do it for you.

The process is basically: 1) put the shipped ROM in the 'Original Update' folder 2) Build a working directory (ie extract it) 3) Select 'Add root permissions' 4) Select option '99' which rebuilds the ROM. 5) Flash it.

Found this one yesterday and today will test it Btw: you need linux or a virtual machine with it!
