Guest EddyOS Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Had the ROM for 2 weeks now, already posted on XDA (the full ROM not just the OTA)
Guest bas-r Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Had the ROM for 2 weeks now, already posted on XDA (the full ROM not just the OTA) That's strange: this afternoon I was still on 1.15... I checked for SW updates, and no updates available. Now just a sec ago I checked, and there was this update? And you say you already had it for two weeks?
Guest Nsonic101 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 ...it is our comittment always beeing 2 steps behind ;-) http://www.htc.com/de/support.aspx Hi, I have rooted phone, tried to install the OTA but it did not work. Any ideas anyone? Was on wifi and during the install, a big red question mark appeared over an icon of phone. then it rebooted and all is as before

Was on wifi and during the install, a big red question mark appeared over an icon of phone. then it rebooted and all is as before Hi, I'm another user with the same question. I'm on a rooted 1.15 generic with HBOOT 0.75. What is now the easiest way to get a ROOTED 1.21 on my phone, preferably keeping my 0.75 HBOOT? Is there a way I can just process the OTA update but keep my phone rooted and not have to wipe everything?
Guest David_P Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) Just applied this FOTA and now my WI-FI WILL NOT START!, it just says "unable to start wifi". I was not rooted but using the stock rom (1.15.405.4) after scrapping the orange crud the phone came with and following the posts here to generic'ify your handset.. Please help if anyone knows how to address this. David Edited June 2, 2010 by David_P

David I applied this on a non-debranded stock-rom phone and had to turn wifi off and on again after the first reboot after the update, but haven't had any issues since. There's something different here about how it handles the wifi search and connection setup. I also noticed the phone is much faster at shutting down than before (occasionally had the hang others have written about, but even when it didn't hang is used to be kind of slow to turn off, but now it's fast).

Thanks for the fast reply, but there is no option to turn wifi either on or off, it is simply greyed out and says unable to start. Please tell me I don't have to do a factory reset as well :-S David
Guest David_P Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 SEEMS TO BE SPECIFIC TO ORANGE DE-BRANDED HANDSETS!!!!! I was having a poke around on XDA (unfortunately after I applied the fota update) and saw this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693628 So far only Orange handsets that were made generic and then installed this FOTA seem to have the WiFi issue. If I grab my goldcard, could I re-flash back to the old 1.15.405.4 rom again or am I buggered now? David
Guest ccitt Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Is the OTA ROM as the same as leaked ROM on XDA? thanks
Guest EddyOS Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Yes, hence why I've had it 2 weeks...the MCR ROMs are based on it as well
Guest David_P Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I think there is a difference in baseband between my handset and the full RUU for 1.21. as I am still on 32.30.00.28u after the FOTA update but the RUU has 32.36.00.28u David
Guest thempstead Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I'm having the same issue with a debranded Orange phone and loss of Wifi after the OTA update. According to OSmonitor App the error when I try and start WIFI is: ERROR bcm4329: version magic '2.6.29-0cb9f166 preempt mod_unload ARMv7 ' should be '2.6.29-97da29ed preempt mod_unload ARMv7 ' What this means and what to do now I'm not sure ...

I think he expects a different kernel modul and crashes. Try to hardreste or reflash.
Guest Martin22 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Hey, if you install the update will not take root phone already
Guest c3rax Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 can someone confirm Martin22´s statement?
Guest EddyOS Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Altho it makes no sense gramatically I'd imagine it won't take off root but I can't confirm. I downloaded the full RUU and updates my generic Desire and have no issues but I'm not rooted
Guest _Dejan_ Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I have rooted phone with SW 1.15.405.4 and HBOOT 0.75 and would like know if there is someone who has update rooted phone with new update without loosing data, installed APPS on SD...
Guest EddyOS Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 OTA shouldn't affect these, full RUU upgrade probably will
Guest _Dejan_ Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 OTA shouldn't affect these, full RUU upgrade probably will shouldn't but you are not shure... So need some answers from users which are make upgrade on root+APP2SD phone...

Guest mountnorth Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I have made a pre-rooted flashable ROM out of Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2 (without HBOOT, without Radio) and its running just fine on my Desire. If I'm at home I could upload it if anyone is interested. Steps how to build it yourself are quite easy, just have no time to post atm.

Guest ozjd Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I'd have figured that this was an updated version that would allow us to use our phones as a portable hotspot in froyo... anyone tried?
