Guest SonMauri Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 C'mon guys... i know some of you knows the answer... Guide us ^^
Guest makmondeja Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) It won't work. It will say UPDATE FAILED. You need to update with the U8230 Switzerland RBM update.app Link It will fail at 80% but that's ok. Then you will be able to install any 2.1 CUSTOM ROM that you want, Hungarian Paul WIP or Oscilator R7. NOTE: YOU WILL LOOSE 3G CONNECTIVITY, ONLY 2G (EDGE) WORKS. I THINK IT'S A FIRMWARE ISSUE WITH THE RADIO HARDWARE AND THE FREQUENCIES OF 3G THAT ARE OCCUPIED IN CHILE. OTHER PEOPLE IN CHILE IT'S HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, BUT A DUDE FROM BRAZIL THAT OWNS A U8220-6 SAID TO ME THAT HIS 3G IT'S WORKING OK. SO, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, AT LEAST UNTIL A U8220-6 2.1 UPDATE APPEARS. Edited June 4, 2010 by makmondeja

Yes, but it refers to the original rom, which I can't find in the huaweidevice.com site.. I'm also getting tired of reboots (most of them, during a call, so it's annoying).. if somebody knows which 1.5 rom we can use as the "stock one", it would be very preciated since that will allow us to "safely" use the hungarian rom without worrying about losing 3G.
Guest marcusmaximo Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I've found the Pulse2.1 Lite does work even if yours has the original 1.5. You might want to give it a try even without installing Hungary ROM so you are able to keep 3g working and have the 2.1 version at the same time with u8220-6. http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...e-2-1-lite-rom/ I've tested to restore the firmware to 1.5 with the firmware fix the uploaded and then use original u8220-6 1.5 firmware from the site. It works although is hard for me to stay using 1.5 when I have already tested the sweet 2.1 Can't wait for 2.2 version! :)

Guest Tom G Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 BUT A DUDE FROM BRAZIL THAT OWNS A U8220-6 SAID TO ME THAT HIS 3G IT'S WORKING OK. All Brazilian networks appear to use UMTS 2100 (List of UMTS networks) so they should be fine. it is the UMTS 850/1900 networks that are not working. In Uruguay Ancel should work with 3g.
