Guest il_cholo Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) Hi All, I have been reading posts at modaco for a week until I received my 8220 today, I have read that mine is 8220-6 (I´m from argentina), is there a posibilty to use Sh4d0w940´s or zerosignull´s tutorials? when I tried to update with Hungary rom I get a failed message and I have to restart my phone and update from the begining with the original rom. the only 2.1 rom I could apply was upd8-r6-2.1-pulse-a2sd+-vanilla-signed.zip, but with this one I get several restarts and voice search crashes. Any help it will be much appreciated. Regards. Edited June 3, 2010 by il_cholo

No 3g and it isn't 100% that it will be fixed anytime soon or ever
Guest il_cholo Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) thanks for your reply I will have in mind your advice, despite this upd8r6 keeps rebooting at last 3G and other services are working. let´s pray and light a candle for the official one :( Edited June 4, 2010 by il_cholo
Guest il_cholo Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) can someone confirm? I thought thtat frequencies and other stuff depended on the hardware capabilites instead of the software. I managed to go back to 1.5 "U8220-6 V100R001ARGC27B237(Argentina Movistar)" from upd8-r6-2.1-pulse-a2sd+-vanilla-signed, 1.5 really sucks on speed, touch and camera performance but upd8-r6-2.1 was driving me crazy with it constants reboots on calls, FC and etc. do anyone find any of the CR really stable and reliable? what is your opinion on upgrading my 8226-6? is it possible or I will mess as someone said? any help will be very appreciated. regards. It's going to be risky. A few people in South America are reporting that upgrading using the t-mobile or red bull roms are losing 3G permanently. These roms are specifically for European use and I believe the radio frequencies are different in South American countries. I think at the moment your only choices are using the older custom 2.1 roms for 1.5 users, using 1.5 or waiting for either an official ROM or a custom rom with a new custom kernel which may work for you. Unfortunately any custom kernel requires the kernel source and modules from Huawei which, I believe, have not been released yet. Maybe there is somebody on the forums that is able to and willing to port Android 1.6 to the Pulse? It will certainly run on the 1.5 kernel.
Guest il_cholo Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 thanks for your thoughts and clear explanation. is there too much difference between 1.5 and 1.6?
Guest Simon O Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 thanks for your thoughts and clear explanation. is there too much difference between 1.5 and 1.6? Not a lot of difference but a few apps need 1.6 such as Google Maps Navigation.
Guest tuxuy Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Not a lot of difference but a few apps need 1.6 such as Google Maps Navigation. Hi, I have some years of linux experience and I would like to contribute to do this (making a 1.6 rom with the stock kernel from 1.5 that I already have in my 8220-6).. but where can I start reading?? I have no experience making this (ROM's).. Thanks in advance!

If I could be bothered I'd post a link to the thread, but the best we got, if I remember, was just 1.6 running, no wifi, mobile networks, hardware buttons, camera, etc. I thought it was because we used the 1.5 kernel, that and no drivers from Huawei. Feel free to email them some more asking for the kernel source and drivers, but that didn't work either. Anyone know someone who works at Huawei? If so, please ask them for any help! This means you Bobo, I haven't spoken to you in ages, but I remember your source isn't a Martian that lives in a toe-nail high tree :) :) :) Do you know we have the second highest threads and replies in the Android section of MoDaCo? Behind the HTC Hero. That makes me proud of my random posts! :) Edited June 10, 2010 by DanWilson
