Guest cbate027 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 I currently have MCR 1.7 on my Pulse and am having lots of FC with a lot of apps and a lot of slow down so I would love to have 2.1 on my Pulse. However I'm finding it all a little confuzling :( I thought I could just install a new ROM like I did with the 1.7 but there's all this mention of a Hungarian update you need and then an UPDATA file and I really have no idea what is going on. I even read the tutorial here but couldn't make odds and ends of it :( If anyone could please help that would be great :o
Guest Speckles Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Since you already have 1.7, you probably already have a lot of the steps complete. Reboot your phone, hold down Menu+Red and if you see the Huawei logo with "Backup/Restore" then choose the Backup option and choose Nand. Then you can put the 'dload' folder on your SD card with the Hungarian update on, reboot your phone into update mode (Hold down Red+Vol+ whilst turning on) and it'll flash 2.1 into your phone. Thats the bogo-standard T-Mobile firmware. Follows the steps to then upgrade to a ROM of your choice with root functionality.

Is that the update mentioned here - http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...mobile-hungary/ ? I feel I should know this haha! Thanks for the help :(
Guest cbate027 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 OK I got the Hungary update installed but don't know how to install Pauls rom as I can't get to the normal recovery mode anymore, only a blue one with only a wipe option.

Reinstall the recovery menu the way you did the first time round. The update reverts back to the stock (Crappy) recovery

The update reverts back to the stock (Crappy) recovery By using the install-superboot-windows.bat file? I tried that and it just says 'Waiting for device' forever, and the phone is definatly in the right mode (blue screen white text)

I believe someone posted them on this forum, sorry I can't link it to you But I agree with all the roms and different guides for different devices on this forum it does get confusing
Guest cbate027 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Ok I have the 2.1 drivers installed an all and now when I open the .bat file it says something like writing boot really quick and it goes away. Nothing else happens. Also on the blue screen their is more text than normal reading 'ptn 0 names='boot' start=304 len=20' and so on...... I really don't know what to do :(

I really don't know what to do :( Superboot isn't needed with 2.1 roms as they include it already. You just need to install the recovery now.

I really don't know what to do :( well, there is more text blue screen after you upgraded to 2.1 and i found that there won't be any responds shown on the blue screen whatever you have successfully flashed the image or not. I guessed you have flashed the image , as you just double click the .bat , windows is closed itself after all scritps are excuted. You can open command window (run cmd.exe) to flash the image manually then you may see "okay" on the command window at last if you succeed.
