Guest daisun Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Hey guys, I have a Nexus One and am with Three (3) Australia. When I get left a voice message I am able to access it by going to my Three email account and downloading a .amr audio file. Now the problem is when I goto my inbox using the browser on the phone (running Froyo) and attempt to download the attachment it says it fails because the file type isn't supported on the phone :( . How can I get to my voice messages besides using a computer or calling the voicemail number?
Guest daisun Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Do you think using another browser might be able to download them?
Guest crawler9 Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 I know of two possible solutions. I can only guarantee one of them to work for sure. 1. (not guaranteed) Download a file manager like Astro or Linda and it MAY allow you to download that. I recommend Astro over Linda any day. 2. (Definitely would work) Look around the web for a program called Download Crutch or Download Crutch Lite. It will allow your phone to download any file type without a problem. It works completely invisibly, as if its not even on your phone. You would then go about downloading any file the way you normally would. Download Crutch is a free program, so if you can find it online, I believe it's legal to download it. For some reason or another it's been removed from the marketplace (at least on my T-Mo N1, though i think it's gone completely.) I've seen it available on a lot of the types of sites advertised in the marketplace comments about free apps. I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to mention any of them here as they are semi-illegal in general. Good luck. Let me know how it goes for you.
Guest daisun Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the suggestion. I managed to download 'Download Crutch' but it must be the way the website is coded because it downloads a php file rather than the amr file. I guess its a little closer than before where it wouldnt download anything... :) I do have astro installed but I don't see how that can download the file. I guess I'm stuck... Guest bswift Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 in astro's settings menu you can try to check "Enable Browser Downloads" and see if that works.

Guest iteration Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) I don't actually think that the problem is in your browser. I am also with Three and retrieve the voicemail via an email attachment. I have found that since moving to Froyo, the AMR files can't be played. (giving the same error you mention in your first post) I also found that a few of my .m4a files don't seem to work on Froyo either. They all worked fine on my old HTC Magic and I flashed my N1 with Cyanogenmod and they played fine in there. As such I think it's an issue of Froyo missing a few codecs at the moment. Guest daisun Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I've found that using Opera allows me to download the amr files. But, they cannot be played by the stock music player or doubleTwist. What to do... ;)
