Guest reddevil1971 Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 I have a HTC Desire on Orange which I debranded using Paul's guide with the goldcard. Yesterday I ran the OTA update and now it is Network Locked and asks me for a 8 digit sim network unlock pin :( I then tried to root the device but it is still locked. I'm not sure how best to resolve this I know it seems like a silly question but would buying an unlock code fix this or is it too late? Is the original orange ruu rom available so I flash the device back to factory settings? any other suggestions would be helpful thanks radio: 4.06.00.02_2 hboot: 0.80.0000 software: 1.15.405.4 baseband:32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2

Guest jbeynon Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 I have an Orange desir that I rooted and returned to HTC original Rom and had a slightly different experience. The ota update failed, it ran but showed a red triangle on a black screen. So i acquired the rooted update posted here and put phone into recovery and installed it from the SD card. All working fine here using this method. John

I had to flash the full 1.21 firmware with radio to get the wifi working, and pay for the unlock code. Edited June 9, 2010 by wingphil
Guest reddevil1971 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Does your wifi work now? When I got the OTA update, it didn't update the radio, but my wifi didn't work. I had to flash the full 1.21 firmware with radio to get the wifi working, and pay for the unlock code. everything works fine after downgrading the radio image. originally, i was on the 1.15 firmwaqre, applied the update which locked the phone. I then rooted it and flashed it with 1.21, still locked. finally, i used the old radio (more as a last throw of the dice before buying a code)
Guest reddevil1971 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I'm in desperate need of help here - I used the TinyCore Linux guide to successfully root my phone with 1.15 (thanks to the author :) ) and then tried to apply the OTA update to 1.21, which didn't work. I then used the goldcard method and ran the 1.21 updater from my Windows 7 x64 PC which appeared to work, but after the phone rebooted, I'm now getting a 'network locked' message! I've tried to repeat the steps in the TCL guide (even if it means going back to 1.15, I've decided I'm not bothered about 1.21 for now) but get a 'device not found' error during step 2. (Step 1 completed quicker than it should've done too.) Other than buying a code, what can I do to unlock my phone? What steps do I have to take exactly? I want to avoid having to fork out for a code at all costs... I had trouble with device not found when running step 2, the trick is to wait until the phone boots into the recovery mode (black screen, red triangle) to downgrade the radio, i put the image on the sd card, put it into recovery mode and applied via update.zip (i also crossed a few fingers and got religious!)
