Guest tgomas Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Hi, The first thing I did was install the recovery image, now people seem to say you should nandroid backup before doing this so you have a pure image. Will having the recovery image on my original nandroid backup mess up my chances of repair in the future (T Mobile Pulses seem to need repairing a lot)? Thanks

But it is still covered under warranty if they don't know you've done it... Hence why it says to backup!

Guest Samlock Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 I don't see the need for the "well duh?" response really, he asked a perfectly valid question... Never mind. As far as I know it probably will invalidate your warranty, but if the hardware fails (such as loose USB port) I'm sure you could add to the argument that software has nothing to do with that going wrong. Kinda a sticky area tbh, seeing as T-Mob so far seem to be refusing to repair them but thats another story altogether... :(

Actually even if you did create a nandroid and restored it the phone would still have the custom recovery image so the warrenty remains void. However restoring the device to stock is easily achived by applying / reapplying the december update. Or the 2.1 update if you have already updated. The nandroid before flashing the rom was only for restoring your phone if the update bricked it.

Thanks It is not too difficult to restore the recovery image to the original. Did you make a nand backup before you flashed any of the custom roms, and have you not yet updated to 2.1? If so, you'll be able to get back to the factory default state. All you need is to get a copy of the original recovery.img. It is floating around here somewhere. I am off to bed, but if you can't find it before I log back in tomorrow, I will track it down. You will need to use fastboot to flash it back.
Guest AndAddict Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) My phones in the repair shop just now and It had both MCR and the recovery image on it and all they did was "Upgrade" it. Its a third-party company in Kent called SBE that deal with the repair if you take it into a T-mobile store. I don't know about directly sending it to Huawei. Edited June 5, 2010 by AndAddict
