Can someone please point me to a well written guide on how to install ADB?

Everything I can find omits things - e.g. it says install eclipse from here, and then points to a page that has a dozen different versions of eclipse. I mean, which one is needed, and what parts need installing?

And is installing ADB straightforward from there?
