Guest HNH992 Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Hi I ordered HTC Desire from clove.co.uk And I will get it this week :) I want to root by using Paul's method it but I can't because I have 64x. I heard I can use TinyCoreLinux but I prefer Paul's Method because every time I want to go to the Recovery I should boot TinyCoreLinux to enter the Recovery and that gonna take time but with Paul's method I can only run recovery-windows.bat to enter the Recovery. However, How can I root my Desire by using Paul's method with x64? I searched and I found this: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1294624 Will this modified file work in x64? And If something went wrong while I'm rooting my Desire via Paul's method. Can I recover it again? or Is it dead? Thanks Edited June 6, 2010 by HNH992

Guest terryhau Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 I did mine on Windows 7 x64 just using the regular guide/files without any problems.
Guest Robboftw Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) x64 doesn't mean that you cant root with Paul's method, it just means you MAY encounter some problems that you wouldn't possibly get on Mac/Linux/x86. You'll most likely be fine. Edited June 6, 2010 by Robboftw

Guest Muskie Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 TBH, it's very easy to simply download an Ubuntu LiveCD and boot off that. It will give you full access to your hard drives, so you can just run the recovery files from there.
Guest Emmepi Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Impossible for me under Seven x64, on 2 different computers... So i used TinyCoreLinux and it worked at 1st attempt...

But can you enter the Recovery while using windows?
Guest EddyOS Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Recovery in W7 x64 works fine, it's just the initial rooting I had issues with. TinyCore is the best, and easiest, method

Guest Nicke Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) So I can root with TinyCoreLinux and enter the Recovery in Windows 7 x64, right? I used 7 x64 with SanderX's modified step1-file to root. Worked great! Edited June 6, 2010 by Nicke
