Hi all i recently bought a secondhand omnia and it has the lousy BOHH5 firmware and i really need to get shot of that as the battery is running down so fast. Tried contacting tmobile and they were less then helpful. So thought i would ask here as there seems to be so many people that know what they are doing. Here is my biggest problem though i am disabled on a very tight budget and really cannot afford to risk bricking anymore then i absolutely have too the phone also this is the first windows phone i have owned so not up on it at all. I bought the phone because i have to spend long periods in hospital having treatment and needed something that could play video's and music to keep me entertained :). Is there anything i can do or am i stuck with it ? thanks in advance for helpful replys any help is much appreciated. Ok still reading up and trying to understand all the technical stuff but i have seen something about editing the registry and changing the firmware name to one of the samsung one's and then using the samsung site to get an updated version. Has anyone tried this does it work and if it does what registry editor do you good folks prefer to use.

Has no one tried this registry method at all ???.

Ok have now unlocked the phone so does that mean i could download an ordinary samsung firmware and update using the official method sorry if it's a dumb question but like i said new to all this windows mobile stuff so i am dumb :).

Ok i see many people have read this thread and maybe some of you are in the same situation i was in yes i have now flashed to DXIA5 and my battery problems are gone as well as a couple of other niggles. Way i did it was to google DXIA5 clean rom it comes in four parts and you download them all and then click on part one and extract using winrar and when it is finished you will have the full .exe image. I then used my wifes laptop that had xp pro on it and usb 2 ports. I followed the instructions for flashing always remember to install the samsung modem driver for xp failing to do that seems to have been responsible for a lot of failures. I clicked the exe and the updater starts you then plug your phone in and wait till the updater recognises it then you click start. From there you just have to sit and wait and DO NOT TOUCH either the phone or the usb cable. If like me you are a first time flasher one bit that might alarm you when you see it is the eboot part doing more then once reading forums you will know eboot is the part that can be responsible for bricking a phone if it screws up it is normal for this rom to download and install it twice so do not panic when it happens just let it continue till the updater says job done. Hope this helps some of you and it is a bit worrying doing a flash for the first time but with this image and some patience you'll be ok just as i was.
