Guest byakkotai Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Hi, I just installed the rooted 2.1 ROM and as this is the first 2.1 ROM I've used I wondered whether there were any "essential" apps that lacked 1.5 support. I mainly use my Hero for web browsing, Twitter, occasionally Facebook and sometimes games. I don't care about GoogleBuzz whatsoever.

Guest Xtiro Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Well then you'll definitely want the official Twitter app (which wasn't 1.5 compatible).
Guest goatee Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 JuiceDefender - it will double the life of your battery!
Guest mobydeek Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Google Goggles (far from essential tho) LauncherPro, if u dont want HTC Sense UI
Guest Andy1984UK Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 The navigation side of Google Maps. No need for sat navs
Guest cireasa Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Google Maps is by far THE update to have. (you'll probably already have it on your phone if it's 2.1)
Guest lupinehorror Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 i also like the official twitter app...i prefer it to twidroid (which i used extensively before). i also use the rackspace cloud servers app for spinning up, resizing and deleting servers on the rackspace cloud...which is a bit of a niche piece of software right enough). google maps is still a must-have though...
Guest ri2la Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Install the official app to get twitter contact integration, then turn off the notifications and install seesmic as the app to use twitter day to day.
Guest byakkotai Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Thanks ri2la, used that to get every contacts twitter. I do prefer Seesmic though. These apps are definitely going to keep me satisfied until the Droid/Milestone 2 or Nexus 2 is released.
Guest ri2la Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 No problem, I really want a desire, but as I now have true 2.1 on my hero I may wait till a new phone with front facing camera comes out (desire or better spec) as I'm a big skype user.
