Guest andrew.mazlim Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) Hello, fellas. I need your feedback from your GPS experiance. I didn't use GPS for long time (at least 5-6 months), but I went for a friend's wedding in the country and I needed GPS to navigate myself. First, I'm a i900er user and I have OCK's build 23563 flashed (with DXIF1 radio). Second, I used Destinator7 (with - I think - 2008's maps)... Do be honest, I had in the past FASTER LOCKING experiance (with other roms/radios). This time, I spend at least 3-4 minutes to find satellites and lock with them; long time ago with different rom/radio combination (and perhaps with some TWEAKS, I don't remember now), I had lock after... 10-20 seconds! Anyway. I finally locked with the satellites (I think the GPS found 4-5 of them) and I run Destinator7. There was a serious lack of small roads/paths, but I think it's all about my "old" map I'm using (I must download fresh maps). The serious problem was with signal, I think. Every time I was driving through tunnels, the signal was lost for few seconds (4-5''), the screen scrolling was soooooo slow and finally..., on my way back to my place, Destinator... "freezed" after 30-40 minutes of use, just few blocks away from my place. I just need your help to make my GPS, locking faster and working better. I don't mind to try another app (than Destinator7), if you suggesting another one. Thxs in advance for any help you give me. A. Edited June 6, 2010 by andrew.mazlim

What's your opinion? route 66 was delivered with my samsung Gps tweak: settings for i900 omnia 1. Make sure Omnia's External GPS settings as on defaults; - GPS program port = COM3 - GPS Hardware port = COM9 and Bud rate = 4800 - Manage GPS Automatically 2. Extra data injection through Enhanced GPS 3. Here are registry editings - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\InputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\OutputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\SleepOnNoData: set from 100 to 0 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\RetryWaitOnError: set from 10000 to 0 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\CurrentLogFile: set from CurrentLogFile to Blank (set string value to blank) - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\OldLogFile: set from OldLogFile to Blank (set string value to blank) - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize: set from 16384 to 1024 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS\Accuracy set from 19 to 1 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS\QOPDelay set from 12 to 1 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS\RefreshRate set to 1 (default) - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\RIL\GPS\VAccuracy set from 0 to 1 4. Soft reset 5. Check and make sure above registry settings done properly, unless complete them proceed further! 6. Now you can check GPS reception; type in *#1472365# go into menu\views\ and click on "satellites info". Then go back into menu and click "get position". You will get a page with number of sats and the signal strength from each.

Guest barbarony62 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Marvelous reply, indeed! Thxs, bro! try igo 8.3.2 -- you will not be sorry -- make sure you skin it with Choup's or gurjon's skins (spelling???) also try a new portuguese SW called Ndrive = quick as a devil... gui less attractive than a skinned igo (igo with choup's skin), but faster than it, and easier to locate poi... re: sat location.... the first time you try to lock after a long while that the gps was off is slower... also , if you move territories when GPS is off, it takes longer than if you start it at the last place you turned it off..... (did I explain myself??? turn gps off in paris, turn on in london == slow..... turn off in paris, turn on in paris == faster...don't know why -- something computational and statistical) regards

I'll try the tweaks and I'll check both of the nav apps you mention.
