what's the use of eboot?

Hi guys! I am a rookie here, and is there anyone could please tell what's the use of eboot? Seems that similar with uboot?

I have a i908L (chinese version), heared that some hardware differences with other region's. I flashed it several times but PDA only, should I include eboot also? Will that brick my phone :)

I have some untouched rom, one more questions is if I flash with some "uncompatible" eboot, could I restore? Thx!!!
