My story is as follows.

  1. Stock December Update ROM came with the phone. Phone locked to T-Mobile, SmartSIM between Simcard and 3 Simcard.
  2. I updated to Update to 2-1-vanilla-based-on-r6 (Update 8)
  3. Using this guide
  4. Random Reboots (even when not using it) + Vibrate not working.
  5. Installed the hungarian stock ROM without the extra update
  6. Re-installed Update 8
  7. Random Reboots
  8. Installed the hungarian stock ROM without the extra update
  9. Random Reboots
  10. Installed MCR 1.7
  11. Touch screen not working
  12. Installed huawei boot image
  13. Random Reboots
The Fastboot screen (Vol- & EndCall) on my phone was updated at some point.

The old screen looked like this :

USB Fastboot: V0.5

Machine ID:	1007000 v0

Build Date:	Nov 26 2009, 11:05:05

Serial Number: UNKNOWN
at some point it changed to this:
USB Fastboot: V0.5

Machine ID:	1007000 v0

Build Date:	Apr 19 2010, 10:20:03

MSM Id: 16

MSM Version: 2.0

Modem Build Id: 76XXC-6383-SDCBALYM

Serial Number: UNKNOWN

ptn 0 name='boot' start=304 len=20

ptn 1 name='system' start=324 len=880

ptn 2 name='userdata' start=1204 len=642

ptn 3 name='cache' start=1846 len=160

ptn 4 name='recovery' start=2006 len=38

ptn 5 name='misc' start=2044 len=1

What part of the process did this? What was updated? The firmware? Is there a way to roll it back or re-write it?

The random reboots appear to not happen for a while, but once they do they are more frequence regardless of rebooting.

Anyone got any other ideas on what steps to fix this?

I'm have the same problem.

Either reboots constantly,

Fastboot has the same code as you except last figure is 4 instead of 1,

and Fastboot is unresponsive to command line requests to boot to recovery

and in Recovery (AmonRa) (Power+Menu+Red) the trackball doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Switched the battery and randomly the trackball started working again.

Installed Oscillation ROM R7 no probs. V. relieved...
