T-mobile UK has deleted the 2.1 Firmware from there website because it has many bugs. why you make a mod for it ?

Because it still is the latest and most stable 2.1 firmware we have. And have no doubt in FLB-MOD where T-Mo have failed flibblesan has done a really amazing job!

Even when T-Mo release an new kernel (if they keep their promise), I'd still bet that FLB-MOD will be much better than what ever branded crap they provide B)

So if you want to try 2.1 on your Phone, I encourage you to use FLB-MOD. It's as simple as that.

Is the 85Mb internal memory RAM and not ROM, maybe? You can check ram with autokiller for example. If I kill all not necessary apps "free" shows me 1800 free mem, but autokiller about 25Mb. It's a little bit strange, of cause.

What you can see Mem: 107388 105336 2052 0 280 here

is the free ram memory

and not the internal memory.

Yes it is normal.

pulse has only around 107MB ram memory. and why then only 2MB is free?

what about rest of the "used" memory?

well maybe half of the memory that is shown as used it is used, and half of it is cached.

so that's why when you use some application, like system panel for example you can see something between 19-45MB free memory

or even if you kill all of the applications that stay in ram you could get even 50MB and more free.

But what you can see in settings like free memory is the memory that left unused buy the user. and that the memory of the userdata partition.

.....

Thanks for the quick replies.

I checked Autokiller, and it mentioned there was 20mb free after a fresh boot. Is this enough because swap will put unused things in the swapmemory when not used, or can it still cause the SMS issue?

Also thank you very much for the clear explanation totiadrenalin.

I've got a Class4 8gb flashcard, should be enough according to the pulse guide that was stickied.

Hm strange. I've just downloaded it and the checksum matches. Does it install ok?

At first wouldn't flash, then after a few retries it completed but kept force closing acore. It was getting late so I just kept with 1.7 non oc. I've tried a new download today and it verified ok so it must have been just my dodgy connection.

I think I have no SMS issue with this amount of free ram, but who knows

It's quite enough as I think so.

When I try to do all of this things whit the stock sdcard which is only class2 i get force close repeated on a second or two.

So when I bough this sdcard which is class6 I get way much better performances of the phone.

Terminal forces close on 1.7. Alot of launcher restarts/fc that 2.2 does not have. Apps running in the background will often restart, like Ebuddy. Not a problem on 2.2.

I went from 1.6 to 1.7 and all of a suddon I'm very low on phone memory (after dalvik wipe). Did you de-odex the system files or make any other changes that could've caused this?

Either way, much <3. The OC 1.7 runs extremely smooth

Similar issue here - free space has been shortened with the upgrade. But after erasing some stuff (that I think arrived with the upgrade) I'm at 15MBs now (with v1.6 it was ~20) with everything (apps, Dalvik) on the phone. Good enough

Should I set anything else except OC+JIT?

I mean: swappiness, or anything.

Thanks

yea do that and also enable swap using swapper2 as its the easiest way as it creates a swap file on your sd meaning you dont need to repartion your sd when you want to increase/decrease it

I am at 32mb and thats fine for me

Yeah, that that way you will slowdown your pulse.

As it's much faster to cache data to real existing swap partition.

Any recommendations which a2sd lowmen features working the best with FLB oc and JIT enabled? Swap, cache and apps or on sd card.

4.8 is the linpack result .

Nice result

I always use optimal.

But I can't recommend you anything it's your choice.

Try playing a beet.

Also try to play abbet with the dalvik heapsize.

B)

That way you can find the best combination that work for you.

Aha, just read the CW thread again ... I'd sort of assumed that the info on latest version etc would be in the first couple of posts as is case in this thread ... but now spotted flib's Sep28 post about a new version.

I'll have to wait till I get home to try that out as I've not install the Pulse drivers on my work PC!

Ok, making progress .... intalled the latest CW (28sep version) and it now allows me to do a full wipe.

Nandroid restore didn't seem to work - completed but reboot landed me back in CW .... may try again later

Anyway, another full wipe and reinstall of 1.6a has worked.

Trying restore from ROM manager in this now - nope, reboots back into CW. I'll see if 1.7 installs next but at least I'm making progress!

Update ... 1.7 installed ok. Will try 1.7oc (which originally failed and started this saga!) later.

Decent list and a perfect way to a cool Pulse.

Why don't you flashed the owerclocked 1.7 FLB at first? B) Pulse is pretty stable at 690 MHz. 30% more computing power... and try to enable JIT. I'm using it 36 hours now without any reboot, or problem.

If you uninstall superuser you will lose root access. That's one of the major advantages of using FLB-MOD.

My suggestion is to not uninstall anything. You never know if you need those apps someday, and they're not that big after all. (maybe 1-2mb total, and they are not installed on the same partition as your "normal" applications (the ones you installed), so it also doesn't occupy precious app installing space).

"Espresso framework text fix & APN fix"

Hi, what does the Espresso fix do and does i need it for standard v1.7 rom without oc?

I think it's to fix some wrong text colors appearing in some programs. It's not essential, but I think it's recommended if you want to have a pretty Android
