What do I need to do if I take my phone to Africa!?

Hi guys, I'm going to Africa on thurs (Egypt unfortunately, not to see England win the world cup...) and want to take my hero. I just want to check that I haven't missed anything that means i will be charged a load for stuff out there. To avoid any internet charges, am i right that i just need to uncheck "mobile network" in settings-wireless controls and change data roaming to never?

Is there anything else i need to do to make sure that I don't use the internet at all from my phone?

You can delete the APN.

Leave the Hero at home and get a cheap phone to use that you won't worry about if/when it gets stolen.

Good advice. It's not like you'd be using the Hero as a camera, anyway :)

And get a pre-paid SIM (if they're available) so you don't get hit by roaming charges.

Same here. Take the cheapest you can find.

I don't know how you plan to travel but using local transportation is indeed the best way to lose/break your phone (or have it stolen).

Yea that was my original plan, but I've uploaded DVD's on to it and want to use Spotify while I'm out there. There's a thought, even though my spotify tracks are cached and saved on the phone, is there any internet connection needed to use it for that?
