You flash this UPDATA:APP - i guess it restores the firmware id.

Then you can flash dec update or any other UPDATA.APP, since it contains the first release ID.

You put the appropriate UPDATA.APP to /sdcard/dload and flash.

i can see the december update but not the 1.5 rom

December update is 1.5, it is a bugfix release. There is no real need to go further "back in time".

Great. Thx :)

And who said "Time Machine" was just in our imagination....Now we can go back to 6 months in time (Dec update), stay in present (2.1) and may be future (Froyo) as well.

:):D

BTW, it is a funny story.

What happened is that I wrote a forum message on Huaweidevice.com, that I flashed it and it stops at 85%, what is the problem?

BUT: since this hong-kong ROM was not really a 8220 ROM (it is for a modified version with more ROM and RAM), they realized that it is their fault that my phone died (sort of). So they released this patch.

Personally I think it is a very important piece of software :)

The post ay Huawei site is not clear ( at least for me ).

This method is for 8220 only? Or will it work with 8230? And for versions like TMN A1 with more RAM?

Looking at the instructions, I would say yes, but I don't know what's the purpose of the dload.zip.

Cheers

But which 1.5 ROM do you end up with? Is it the T-Mobile ROM?

It's the most important piece of software that Huawei has released. Now you can do anything to this phone, and then go back and have it like new, warranty ready. Finally Huawei!!!

Especially I used hungarian T-Mobile 1.5 Dec Update, but you could use any official 1.5 I think...
