Streak Keyboard what do you think of it?

Hi all,

After reading the Dell Streak review over @ElectricPig there was one major point i completely disagreed with them on and that is the Keyboard as i absolutely love it as for me it is working brilliantly hardly any mistypes at all and it has learnt what i tend to type really fast. As i have a lot of entries that are the same thing day in day out such as taking my medications 3-4 times a day and taking the the dog for a walk or run 3-4 times a day i am finding i now no longer need to type whole sentences as it guesses my next word for me. I am running mine with Vibrate on key press, Sound on key pres, Show suggestions, Quick fixes and finally Auto Complete all on and this means i am typing faster and easier then i can remember doing on any device since and besides my BB Bold.

Am i alone in feeling this way or do some of you also feel the same about the Keyboard please vote in the above poll and lets see what we Streak owners think of the Keyboard.

I don't think your alone on it, I do really like the keyboard on the Dell Streak, but one thing that would be really nice would be to have is an option to disable the numerical keypad so that the keyboard can make better use of the screen.

I've seen on YouTube with someone who has done it on the Streak but I don't see any options for changing the keyboard used (ie.betterkeyboard) Usually on other android you just press and hold the ?123 button and it will give options. Any ideas?

Works great for me too, so nice not to be using modifier keys all the time to get numbers and common punctuation characters.

likewise, what with it being a phone and me writing a bit of code here and there I tend to use the number keys a fair amount :)

i did try the swype style keyboard app but the implementation did not use the widescreen layout, it looked very promising, esp combined with predictive text,

Im using Swipe as well, it works fine in landscape and the keys are much bigger than the dell standard keyboard.

I like that it has the numeric keypad. It's a pain on my N1 as number input is almost as common as alpha input.

Love it - got the same settings as you, dogmann, quickest typing i've ever done! Imagine how quick it will be when multi touch comes through....

Just download any other keyboard, you have to enable the keyboard in the settings. Then hold down on a text entry field and go to input method, the new keyboard should be there.

Although I like the keyboard and it takes a little getting used to, but I found its a nightmare to use with suggestions turned on as the extra line on top of the keyboard takes useful space when typing in large text areas. A lot of times I've noticed I don't see what I'm typing.

This needs to be fixed in the next release. Either the page should automatically scroll down or some other software implementation should fix this.

I've gone back to using it quite a lot for form entry, with slideit for conversations.

Gone off swype

I use swype in skyscraper mode(portrait) when I'm doing text entry its the fastest most accurate way I've found

I really like the look of Blindtype though
