Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I have read many tutorials on how to install APP2SD but I still have one question. When setting up the EXT3 partition everyone selects 512MB, can I select more ie 1GB? Regards, Lollylost100
Guest EddyOS Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I used 1GB and it was fine...don't use it anymore, mind
Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) EDIT: I want to use this ROM: http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...ion-1-21-405-2/. How do I go about setting up APPS2SD++ for it? How big should the swap file be? Edited June 10, 2010 by Lollylost100
Guest EddyOS Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) You're better using one of the MoDaCo Custom ROMs (MCR) as they have A2SD in them already - the settings in THAT ROM you linked are different (I think) so either ask the OP of that ROM or see if someone else can help... The MCR ROMs are based on 1.21 so you'd get all you get in that one you posted Edited June 7, 2011 by Paul
Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I have tried the MCR3.1 without addons and I found it to run low on RAM after using the phone for a few hours. I used a task killer but after killing all apps I onyl had 100mb ram left.
Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I think I just found the answer to my question: I already had app2sd and in my opnion it seems that when you use app2sd and eveything is working as it should the battery life seems to be longer. Before app2sd was correctly configured then mem when down to only 22mb free. I went on to flash the 3 o 'clock rom. Did a complete wipe of everything (AppBrain is easy afterwards) flashed the rom, without restarting flashed the OCv14 BASE and again without restarting partitioned the SD (No Swap, 640MB ext2 (converted to ext3) and partioned the rest for data. Everything works like a charm. Only thing left to do is the radio. Should I update? I have the 4.06.00.02_2 rveupen
Guest EddyOS Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Won't be any better with another ROM tbh...and you don't use Task Killers with Android, not needed
Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Ram usage seems a lot better on stock rooted than MCR
Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 The rom I linked above had bizzare problems with the market. Does somebody have Apps2SD+ or Apps2SD++ as update.zip package? Thanks in advance, Lollylost100

Guest Lollylost100 Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Yes, you can select as much as you want. I have a problem, again :). I installed the stock rooted 1.21 ROM back onto my phone. After it I installed r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip. I got an error when installing the a2sd zip "e:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[". How can I get a2sd with a stock rom? Can anyone help me out? Regards, Lollylost100
Guest EddyOS Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 i have the same question as well And I answered it further up the thread...
