R7 WIP MCR is very slow

Hi,

I have upgraded to the 2.1 hungarian ROM and then applied the R7 WIP MCR (by Paul).

However it is very slow and I am facing a lot of issues with contacts (e..g it takes 5 seconds to load contacts and then a couple of more seconds to search !!)

Also takes a lot of time to load google maps and then again there are a lot of force closes everywhere (voice, contacts maps)

Also I get these strange SMS after every voicemail ( MBOXUPDATE?name=xxxxxxx;server=******;port=143 etc)

I have done a full wipe and again installed the 2.1 MCR, but no joy !!

Anybody else facing the same issues ?

I had the same issue when i installed 2.1 stock and on top of that 2.1 MoDaCo r7.

But when i wiped every single thing from the phone it worked like a charm and now im not getting any FC's, but the showing of contacts is still slow. Then i put Launcher Pro and now it's much faster than the original one. On the original one when i was scrolling through the apps there was a bit of lagging, and now with Launcher Pro i don't have that issue.

I am not using any custom home screen... It is a barebones MCR r7 2.1 setup. (paul's rom)

installed launcherpro now.

Things are slightly better when going to different screens. Thanks a lot for the suggestion :)

But two major issues still remain.

Slow contacts and slow dialer ?

any solutions for that ?

Yeah it does sometimes happen on Paul's R7, I never found the solution, sometimes they was opening instantly and sometimes they was damn slow, I suggest you to install Zero ROM or the one from Fibl, both of them are very good.

It used to be very slow for me, and it is on boot up for at least 2 or 3 minutes. But ever since I installed LauncherPro and Advanced Task Manager, it works like a charm. :)

I have removed the additional languages and disabled vibration and sound in the keyboard. I have also disabled the dictionary. Now it is a bit faster....

But still needs a lot of optimizations. Wonder when Paul will start work on 2.1 again :) ?

Has anybody figured out the cryptic Voicemail messages issue ?
