Music Players

Yes it works with most 2.1 roms, including mine. I was going to add this as the default player in my rom but decided not to at the last minute. It's very good. Mostly looks like the generic 2.1 music player but the playback screen is a lot better, imho, and it provides more widgets.

This is a music player mod that replaces the stock music player and widget. Says it's for any Eclair ROM, but i don't know if it will work on the T-Mo one.

I copied this file to my sd card and installed it from there. Everything worked fine.. until I rebooted that is. Then it went back to the stock music app. This happens every time I reboot

Do I have to do something else to permanently replace the stock music app with this one?

You need to replace the stock music app in /system/app/Music.apk

Thanks a million Flibs(!)

EDIT:

Just copied the new Music.apk into the same folder as the old one, thus overwriting the old. Now the music app (with the new icon) gives me a force close every time I try to open it. Reboot didn't help

Should I have deleted the .odex file too?

Yes, remove the odex file if there is one. You may also have to clear dalvik cache from recovery too.

I did it using estrongs file explorer which is available from the market. in the settings, allow it root and also choose the option to mount as read write.

Then it's simply a case of navigating to whatever folder location and deleting, copying or pasting.

oh yes, be sure to delete both the music.apk and the music.odex, otherwise you will encounter the error message i had above.

and to install that program i would need to be running a customised rom to have root wouldn't i?

The Winamp for Android is brilliant and if you get the latest Winamp 5 beta you can sync your Winamp library with the Android player.

Android. It really whips Steve Jobs' ass

Can someone explain these Winamp lockscreen controls for me? When I want to unlock the phone I get the usual lockscreen with the sliders with no controls. After unlocking the phone with the slider I get a winamp lockscreen with control etc (seen in ogiogis third screenshot). Is this "double lockscreen" intended? If so, it's rather stupid and useless :P

Or am I doing something wrong?

edit: Also, curse you, il_cholo...because I followed your link and clicked on a related video, I now have the
